Where to begin....I guess the best part of the experience was checking in. I tried to get a discounted room, but was told that the only room available was an upgraded King room, or a smoking room which was really bad. Front desk was so helpful and pleasant, that I went with the "upgraded" room. It was clean, but looked like it was in the middle of a remodel. I was tired, so I suffered. The remote sort of worked on the TV, it changed channels, but that was it. To turn on/off the TV or adjust the volume, I had to figure out the controls on the TV itself. In the morning, I took a shower, but the drain in the tub was slow. When I went to check out, I told the girl at the front desk, and she shot back "Well, I'm not the owner." I replied, "Obviously you are not, but I think you might be able to tell maintenance about these issues before the room gets used again." With her attitude, I figured that she wouldn't tell maintenance, and I then also decided not to tell her about the sugar ants in the breakfast area, none of the lamps were plugged in my room (and I still am not sure which plug in belonged to the wall switch, since nothing worked with it), or that one of the pillows must have come from a smoking room since it reeked of cigarette smoke.
Horrible black mold inside most of t;e rooms. It is very very run down. The owner lives on the property and seems to I'm up transients and people who are down on their luck. And then does not pay them for all of there work. It seems to be a form of modern day slave labor.
This hotel is not good at all. I had to change rooms twice and the third room wasn't good at all. Refrigerator went completely out. Turn on shower but, nothing. Shower knob just kept turning around. Carpet was very nasty in all three rooms. Take off your linens and check very carefully. Urine stains, blood stains, dirty spots, cigarette burns. This is not a great hotel at all. It says red carpet inn but, it claims to be a knight's inn. False advertisements. I told hotel clerk, which must have been the owner. All she said was, what do you want me to do. I wouldn't let my dog stay there. 100% disgusting. Lots of hookers and prostitutes. I also took photos and showed them to the clerk. She said nothing and did nothing. Do get fooled.
On 10-26-2012 I and my wife checked into the GuestHouse in Dothan, Alabama. At first everything seems like a normal room. Went to put stuff in the fridge and notice it was really rusted on the top- not a big deal the inside looked clean. Started to put water in the tub and realized it had some kind of white substance all over it-Strike one! While putting thing in the night stand we seen a roach, tried to take a picture of it and move the nightstand and found clothing that must have been there for a very long time-Strike 2. We went to sit down on the bed to eat and decide if we were going to stay and found blood on the top comforter (in plain sight)-Strike 3. We picked up a survey form to take with us as we went to leave only to realize that it had been filled out in January and never retrieved (bottom comment- “I see bugs in my room”)We went to the front desk to explain and show the picture of each above item off my cellphone (which I still have-would of included but got to buy an adapter to retrieve the pics-but will if need to make a change). We had been there about 30 min to unpack and pack back up and the manager on duty would only refund about 60% of our cost. Let my wife talk to her and they agree to refund the whole amount but only after we gave them the completed survey we had found. We spent until 12:00 until we could find another place to stay that we could afford ( GuestHouse said they couldn’t take it off the card until Monday).When we returned home the next day we called the corporate office to make them aware of these issues, thinking that if someone was making my name so bad I would do something to ratify this issue. We used the Waterford Convention Center for our wedding reception and it was wonderful! The staff was so helpful and willing to do whatever we asked! They set everything up for our reception and it was gorgeous! Everyone kept telling us how wonderful it was and how much they loved it! Thanks so much for making our day so special!
