Overall

GREAT and friendly customer service. I've been living in this area for close to 25 years. They always remember me even if they haven't seen me in months.

Their prices are Slightly higher than their big name competitors but the customer service and location convenience makes it worth it.

Great local hardware store. Always friendly folks and quality products and services. I have shopped here for over 15 years. I'm glad they rebuilt after the fire. I used to live a couple blocks away, but even several miles away it's cheaper than driving out of Detroit to one of the big chains.

Overall
Vested in their community

Hammertime Hardware is neighborhood oriented. They employ people from the community. They're turnover is low. I've seen the same friendly faces for many years now. So far in spite of a severe economy I haven't missed one of them. I prefer them to a "big box" store. They have adequate parking which means I'm steps from any department inside. They have a good selection of tools, fasteners paints etc. for whatever I'm attempting to tackle. They're prices are competitive an closer than 'you know who'. Whenever I consider a do it yourself project I go to Hammertime.
