So Detroit has a big issue with grocery stores. They're so few of them, and limited in the products they supply. Harbortown market is no exception. They have a great number of "specialty" items, but they severely lack in quality of the basics. Produce - their fruits and vegetables are never fresh. Every time I come to the store looking for onions, i find last week's onions sitting there with the outer-most layers peeled off to improve the appearance, and speckles of mold. Meat/Deli selections - it's alright, but i tend to notice that their products go bad fairly quick soon after purchasing. Overpriced - Just because it has the appearance of a posh, and upscale grocery store in downtown Detroit does not give them the right to hike up the prices! I figure they can get away with it because people are turned off to the few other grocery stores available in downtown Detroit because of the external appearances (solicitors, graffiti, and tacky hand-written deal signs do not strike a shopper with much confidence). Sure I continued to shop at this market when I needed something, but it was purely out of convenience. I have on occasion avoided this store, and made an effort to drive out to the Dearborn Walmart for a better selection and prices.
This is the BEST tortilla factory in the United States. I have been coming here with my family since I was a little girl and now I bring my family.…
My OT love this store and I like the store. BUT it smells and its a bit dirty, I once went there for meat (chicken) it smelled funny the day I got it. After 2days the chicken went HORRIBLE and the so called manager smiled in my face and said "Make sure your refrigerator is running (if it wasn't I would not have brought bags of chicken) out of 3bags of chicken one bag was bold!. -__- I was highly upset and then said I can not replace all this chicken but I can give you partial. We never sell bad chicken and all of our meat is fresh.. Apparently NOT. Once I got the batch of chicken, I left it in the fridge up to 3days. I know how long to leave chicken in. I've been around chick my whole life! Management is a JOKE!

There is not a better fish place in Detroit or any place else!!!! The owner Ken is personable and always aims to please his customers with the product he sells. I like red snapper fish and he makes sure he has some available for me...I really appreciate him and his staff!!!!! I learned about this fish place from my brother G-Man and I have been coming back since the first sandwich!!! I have let others know about this outstanding fish establishment and they have all enjoyed it as much as I have!!!!
I like going to Aldi because it allow me to become a lil pig. The reason why I say this they have lots of goodies at a very low prices. Getting milk from Aldi is like having a cow not giving birth! It's like sharing m&m with a friend letting them have one and running out. Shopping at Aldi is like stepping into the 1950's with a friendly atmosphere and quailty service. Just keep your store the way it was started.
King Cole foods is the best store in Detroit and the most beautiful the service is great and people are friendly the lines are fast i go there every week to cash my check they don't even take a lot of money out of it i think the take 1% out of my check i love this store and i think everyone should go there if you need to cash a check buy a money order or buy some food this is the best store to go to in detroit.
Eve's is the best market I've been to in Detroit. Eve, the owner, treats my girlfriend and me like family. They truly value their customers. They have a great selection that almost always meets our needs, and if they don't have something, they'll stock it for us. They have all of the essentials and their new produce rivals what you'll get at Whole Foods. Don't know what we'd do without them.
You know you expect for a neighborhood store to be trashy, getto, and just down right drive byable. But when I move into this area I was very surprised to find that this store was very clean and the back counter people are truely nice. And much respect to the young lady that help me one day "Lexis". Good job. There is still some good in the " Hood ".
this store is in my neighborhood and unfortuantely, though they have a good meat counter, i don't even want to go in there because it smells! this is what my family and i call "the dirty store". its a shame to have such a great meat counter and the rest of the store looks so grimy - WRONG neighborhood for this store. CLEAN IT UP PLEASE!
Girl, this place is the BEST! The food is just like my Grandma has been cooking all Sunday and I leave here so full of kickin ribs and chicken I almost need a nap! There is enough for lunch the next day, too. They have good breakfast (creme brulee waffle) lunch (PRIME RIB sandwich) and dinner (Ribs and Chicken of course)! Love them!
