Meh. This is not the place to go for a

Meh. This is not the place to go for a good Greek salad. I'm always on the look-out for a Greek salad for lunch, so my coworkers and I stopped in here last week and each got one. I ordered the traditional Greek salad with souvlaki for about $10.

I'll start with the positives: they give you a huge slab of feta cheese on top of the salad, not just feta crumbles like most places. Tthe salad is gigantic. The veggies (aside from the olives) were fresh.

The cons: the salad dressing is very sweet, not a typical vinegar-y Greek dressing (more like a sweet Italian dressing) and I didn't like it at all. The souvlaki was cooked to the point of shoe leather texture and was also very fatty. I ended up with lots of leftover meat on the side of my plate that was just inedible either because I couldn't chew it, or because it was all fat.

The service was also meh, as our dreadlocked waitress kept interrupting my conversation with her $.02 on what she thought I was talking about, which wasn't even what we were discussing. She did the same at the next table over. I doubt we'll be back. So far, Melita's on Logan has the best Greek Salad for the money, IMO.

Straight out of Kitchen Nightmares!

Went to MBFGC with my family. I ordered the Fisherman's salad which was said to have crab meat, shrimp, kalamata olives, and the usual veggies. Bad enough that they had been misleading in the use of the word ""crab"" but the artificial (K)crab meat had obviously been frozen and defrosted minutes before they tossed it on my salad. It was still half frozen. There were 4 tiny little beat-up looking shrimp buried under the mound of half frozen Krab and 3 kalamata olives. The tomatoes were unripe and hard and comprised most of the salad. No dressing, just olive oil. The WORST salad I've ever had. I removed the Krab meat and asked to have a grilled chicken breast instead. I was informed that it would be awhile. Hmmm, I wonder why? Because they were DEFROSTING a chicken breast to grill up for me. I don't usually feel compelled to write reviews on restaurants but in this case I felt it important to let people know what they're getting when they go to My Big Fat Greek Cafe based on my experience.

Best Greek Food in Denver!

Everything is fresh and homemade. I've tried many other Greek restaurants and will now eat Greek food only there. I can't wait to go back and get take out . I hear if you go Friday and Saturday nights the owner is there and is really friendly.

Big portions, great value

There are plenty of Greek restaurants in Greektown, so we decided to try this one since my family is from Greece. We loved the owner - he made us feel right at home. His employees were very attentive and quick to serve us. The food was amazing and made me miss home. It isn't meant to be a very fancy schmancy place - which was perfect because we were looking for something casual. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were generous. This place was great and my family and I will patron this establishment because of our positive, fun experience.

I have been this restaurant two times now, the first time was about 3 months ago, and the man that served us was extremely rude and did not care to take care of his customer. Today when I was in the area my friend requested we return, our waitress was fast, friendly and, and understanding, but while we were there we over heard the man who was our previous server, harassing our waitress by yelling at her, and making her cry for what we understand was done by other employee. Our waitress informed us that he was the owner of this restaurant .we believe your work place is your second home and should be treat as such. This man was totally out place to treat someone like this. How dare an employer ever treat their employee?s with such disrespect! Federal law does not prohibit simple teasing, offhand comments, or isolated incidents that are not extremely serious. The conduct must be sufficiently severe to create a hostile work environment. I believe this was severely hostile and I will be making a report to the EEOC. And will NEVER return to this restaurant again.

Great Food, Funny Server

This is a great cafe that is homey and comfortable. We were in a hurry and our waitress made sure our food was served quickly. She was also very funny and personable. The food was delicious and the menu had a great deal of traditional Greek food. I would go back anytime and recommend it to friends.

The Best Greek Food around- and Reasonable prices

I have been here several times, it has become one of my favorite Greek places to eat. They have very nice portions and fast and friendly service, and never had a bad meal! You must try their baklava, especially the pistachio one.. OMG .. the best I have ever had! Try it I know you'll like it if you like authentic Greek food!

Poor Service.

I went to My Big Fat Greek Cafe for the first time on 7/26/08 for lunch. I have been looking for some good greek food around town and heard of this place. The food was excellent. The gyro meat was great. BUT the service was horrible. They had one waitress which was fine because it was not so busy when we went in but she was unfriendly and rude. She acted like she was irritated that people were in there and she actually had to wait on them. After asking for a re-fill on our drinks she came back to the table and practically through them at us. And then proceeded to reach over the table to change out the sugar without even saying exuse me -just completely reached over us while we were in the middle of eating. There are plenty of people out there who need a job and would be willing to have hers. If you don't like to work in the service industry missy you need to find something else. Because of her poor service I will not be returning !

I cannot say enough good things!

After being a fan of Pete's for many years, I came to My Big Fat Greek Cafe and have not returned to Pete's since. Do not get me wrong, I am not an expert on Greek Food, but I trust my palate. I have had about 20 different meals from the menu and I figure I am only about 1/3 through all of the entrees. I have never seen such an extensive menu! The food is quick and the service is extremely friendly. I recommend eating at this place on a daily basis.
If you have not tried it yet, go there today! You absolutely will not regret it.

great taste, big portions

Again I am a waitress at the Big Fat Greek Cafe' our ckicken is mrinated you can not marinate frozen chicken. The crab is imitation we cannot afford to give away real crab it would go bad in between orders as the Fisherman salad is not our most popular if your ever not happy with your food here we are happy to get you something different. I am sure none of the other greek chains in town serve fresh crab. we are sorry you had a bad time in our Cafe' and hope you try it out again.

worst greek food I've ever had, and I'm greek

This place is by far the worst Greek food I've ever had. Petes Central One is the best Greek cuisine I've had in a long time it reminds me of back home, and also the employees are very friendly and attentive to their customers as well as the manager who makes you feel welcome and keeps you coming back with his hospitality. You cant beat the great food prepared by Amalia shes the best in denver.

OPA ! Petes Central One is the bomb!

Doesn't matter how good the food its, the owner doens't deserve one's business

The food is fine, but when I had a conversation with owner, a friend of a friend, I discovered that he was sexist, homophobic, and generally insulting. I now refuse to eat at his place anymore.

Only Greek in Denver worth a Dam

paper_chef you are out of your mind. Pete doesn't know greek food from greek tragedy. Big Fat Greek Cafe is the most authentic Greek food in Denver. I grew up on greek food in detroit which is the nation's capitol for quality greek food. BFGC is the only place in town that compares. The greek skillet is the most delicious breakfast around and big enough for two. Inspired salads, top notch gyros, and authentic entrees make BFGC the only place in town for greek food lovers who know! Keep up the good work.

Your the idiot. I got turned down for a job there? Don't think so. Actually worked at both places for a few years. If you only knew how they handled your food, you would never go to either place again. Joke is on you sucka!

Great portion size

I came here with a friend for lunch and we were both happy with the food and service. The lamb sandwich was really good, and a very generous portion size for the price. My friend ate the gyro hero sandwich, which was also good and an even larger portion size. The waitress did an average job of keeping our drinks refilled, but her friendliness was outstanding. Overall I'd recommend this restaurant.
