I just bought my dress at Mariel yesterday and after trying on dresses at many stores, I have to say they have amazing service and a great selection of couture looks at great prices.I appreciate their store policys as my gown is in perfect condition . I enjoyed their special assistance, it was like having my own personal stylist!
If your young, uneducated, rude girls knew what customer service actually was, my $150 I spent would have been thousands! You buy well, but if I got one more second of attitude from one of your unintelligent staff who thought I was there to just ""look"" I was about to tell them them to shove it. I am a very successful buyer for a national department store and I was totally appalled by your staff. I understand employing young girls for minimum wage is easier, but I seriously was angered by their rude and abrupt demeanor. I only bought the hat due to your buying skills, I would have bought so much more if your staff had half a brain to treat customers like people, not pocket books, and actually learn how to sell, Good luck, your store is beautiful, your staff is ugly on the inside and has no talent on suggestive selling. I have never complained in my 15 years as a retail executive, but your ladies need to learn how to sell, and treat a customer with respect. Totally disappointed I even spent over $150.00 at your store with a staff like that. I sure hope they do not get commission for being full of attitude. (I'm being nice by calling it attitude)! I do wish Mariel the best of luck, but rethink that you could have had over a thousand dollar sale in less than an hour if it wasn't for your staff.

TERRIBLE. They claim their dresses are unique to the area, this is an outright LIE. Other stores carry the same collections in the metro area. The service was literally the worst I have EVER been treated in a store. The saleswoman PHYSICALLY MANHANDLED ME. A dress was twisted so I went to adjust it and she ripped my arm away from the dress! There is a no photos policy and when I asked about this heavily hinting that I would NOT buy the dress without a photo of it, she just said ""well, it's the owners policy."" Also, while trying on veils, she just jammed the combs into my hair then ripped them out, taking plenty of my hair with them. Meanwhile she repeatedly insulted my man of honor, telling him he was worthless. I am stunned by the way I was treated at this store and strongly discourage anyone from shopping there.

I have to admit, after reading several reviews I was a little intimated about shopping at Mariel’s for my wedding dress. The shop came highly recommended by a colleague, so I gathered up my courage and made an appointment (Step 1). From the moment I walked in the store, I was greeted warmly and treated with care, kindness, and respect. Jenny assisted me, with some help and input from Denise, the owner, and I was very pleased with my entire shopping experience. I read about “the rules” of the store in other reviews, and was reminded again when I started my appointment, so there were no surprises. I understand their rationale for such rules and when I selected my dress I was very grateful it was in pristine condition. Jenny and Denise were very helpful and gave great advice about how to accessorize the dress. They were not pushy or rude; in fact they gave me lots of room to make my decision. My dress is beautiful and affordable. I won’t hesitate to recommend the shop to others and I plan to do more shopping at Mariel’s in the future.

NO STARS! I have been window shopping at Mariel for a few years, waiting for my engagement and wedding dress shopping experience. After my recent engagement, I took my mom and a friend with the expectations of finding a unique and affordable dress. However, the lady who was helping me was extremely rude! They sell their samples, so obviously they try to take care of them, but they take it to a whole new level! No pictures, and I was not allowed to touch ANY part of the dress! Instead of being able to look through the racks and feel the material, etc., she had to pull out each one individually and ended up skipping sections because it was too much work. Before even going into the dressing room, I already felt awkward and like my experience was slipping away. I should have not even tried anything on. But, I wiped off my hands and face with a wipe, put a net over my head, and started the process. Awkward. Then, the lady snapped at my mom twice about barely touching a dress (wedding gown and evening gown alike). By the second dress, I felt like I couldn't even breathe the air... worse than going to a musuem. So much so that my mom and friend sat down 5 feet away from me and didn't get up to see any more dresses up close. I was extremely shocked and very saddened by what should have been a wonderful time with my mom and friend, trying on beautiful wedding dresses. Instead, I got a rude, bossy, uninformative, and condescending sales associate who stripped away ALL of the fun and excitement of wedding dress shopping. Luckily, at my next appointment at D'Annelli, I found THE ONE and purchased immediatly.

I have been hunting for the perfect wedding dress for months and I went to Mariel and had the best experience. The woman who helped me, Erica, was the most experienced and helpful person I have encountered on my search. She did not pressure me into buying a dress like they do at other shops. It was a laid back and fun environment.
Besides how wonderful Erica was and how great she made me feel, the selection and prices are impossible to beat. They have unique gowns and ridiculously low prices.
I would and have suggested this as the best, absolute best, place to get a wedding dress. You will be extremely impressed by this shop.
As with ANY wedding shop make sure to schedule an appointment before.

This seemed to be quite the controversial shop, so I decided to pop in last week because I'd heard so much about it.
Having just moved from New York, I was expecting a typical trendy boutique. Unfortunately, this store only perpetuates the stereotype that women out west spend a fortune to look cheap.

I bought my wedding dress from Mariel's yesterday and went back today to buy a dress for my rehearsal dinner. I have been searching for the perfect dress for some time now. I found the perfect one at Mariel's. Their dresses are unbelievably inexpensive and they are all very unique. I paid $438 for mine and I was willing to spend much more. They salesperson was very helpful. Denise the owner was there as well and she had great ideas and opinions too. I would recommend Mariel's to anyone!!! Make an appointment first but you must go there.

This was the first place I walked into to look for my wedding dress and was so excited to get started, but the experience was quickly ruined by the very rude and condescending sales girl. My sister purchased her gown at Mariel for her wedding and had a good experience, but I would find it hard to spend one penny here. When my mother and I said we were there to look at wedding dresses she snapped ""I cannot open the cases without an appointment."" Which was fine and I understand, but she never offered to help make an appointment or explain the process, furthermore she said ""our gowns range in price from $500-$900"" and said it in a way like she thought we couldn't afford it.

I have passed by Mariel in Larimer Square many times, and I can see how the store can look intimidating because of the beautiful decor, but once you step inside the staff is very friendly, and the prices are not at all what you would expect for the latest trends. They help me find some great pieces to update my wardrobe and I was told you cannot find these designers in other stores in town. I wanted to try on wedding gowns that day and was told that I had to make an appointment. They explained to me that their policies were different then other bridal stores because their gowns were available for immediate purchase and they were not sample gowns. I made an appointment and I was pleasantly surprised. They found the perfect gown for me and no alterations were needed. The gown was absolutely gorgeous and I got the dress, shoes, veil, and jewelry for under $1000! I want to thank the Mariel staff for the great experience and Denise for picking out great gowns at affordable prices!

I just bought my dress at Mariel, and I have to say it was my best experience in a bridal salon, as I have been to many stores. Denise knew just the dress for me! She really knows what looks best for your figure and how to give you your own unique look. Her service is amazing and I can see how she has been in business for 27 years. I would personally recommend this store to everyone who is looking for bridal and also for the latest fashions.

Denise, the owner, is very rude and snotty. Bad attitude only skims the surface of her horrible customer service. I am shocked she is still in business. I love shopping on Larimer street and have purchased several items from Merile. The store has great items. Every time I buy something I promise myself I will never go in the store again because of Denis but my last trip was the ?straw that broke the camels back.? I went in the store and Denis did not acknowledge that I was in the store. Then when I was waiting to pay a customer Denis was helping in the dressing room was ready to pay for her large purchase and although I was a the register and been told to hold ?just one moment? Denis checked the other women out prior to helping me, I was mortified and walked out. I will NEVER go back to her store.

In August I flew home from graduate school to look at wedding dresses in Denver where I'm getting married in March. I wasn't really sure how I felt about wedding boutiques but I was so excited to go to Mariel, its always been one of my favorite shops in Larimer Square. When I called Mariel to make an appointment the week before I was in town they told me I needed to be ready to buy if I came in, because they couldn't guarantee their stock. I asked if it would be okay if a gave them a couple days notice since I was in town for a week and I wasn't sure which day I would be at that point and they said that would not be a problem at all. I also provided them with the dates I would be in town, still not a problem at all.
Early in my visit my sister and I headed to lunch down at Rioja after a morning of shopping and decided to stop into Mariel to see if we could make an appointment for later in the week and maybe even check out what they had then (since the store was empty and there were two people working). After waiting for 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, while they sat behind the desk and chatted, we were told they did not have any appointments until October. When I told them I called last week and was told I could easily get in, she looked at me and said flippantly, ""well things change"". I spend a lot of times shopping in small boutiques in Denver (in fact I used to live above one) and have NEVER had an experience like that. Their shop is adorable and I've always loved their clothes but apparently if you want a wedding dress from them you have to be deemed worthy.

I recently bought my dress at Mariels and want to share my experience since I like many rely on reviews. Is Mariels customer-service oriented? No, not really. They arent going to throw champagne and attention at you when you walk through the door to look for a wedding dress. They are going to be abrupt and straightforward: know what you want, dont come here to try on dresses to figure out what you want, and be ready to buy. Simple as that. I have spent the last 4 weekends running all over central CO looking at and trying on wedding dresses. I learned what fabric, cut and style I liked but didnt have that ""this is it"" moment with any of the dresses. In this process, I narrowed down what I wanted and when I made my appt. at Mariel's (at the end of all of my appts) I walked through the door with a specific style in mind (for my destination wedding, it needed to be lightweight fabric, sheath style, and under $500). I found that at Mariel's. JoAnn, the mother of the owner, is very helpful and nice. She doesnt pressure you but she's in sales so she is highly suggestive. I didnt mind this at all. Her daughter Denise who owns the shop has a reputation for being unfriendly however my only dealings with her were when I made my appt. and she was just upfront about the type of shop they run - since these are one-of-a-kinds that you buy off the hanger, they limit the amount of handling of the dresses. Having just bought a beautiful embellished dress from them, I'm grateful for that policy.
Ladies, if you want treated liked a princess, go to Cherry Creek and pay a lot of money to be pampered and buy your dream dress for thousands of dollars. However if you want to find unique dresses at EXTREMELY reasonable prices, follow the rules of Mariels and make an appt to view their gowns (no walkins accepted) and go visit all of the other bridal shops first to determine what looks good on you and to understand how much dresses really cost, then go to Mariels.

My experienve with Mariel was amazing! The staff was so helpful and honest. They treated me great. I ended up buying my wedding dress there and couldn't be happier. The dress is beautiful!! After trying on dresses at other bridal shops around denver, I would have never thought I could get a dress that nice for under $600. I would recommend this shop to anyone.

This store epitomizes the whole Larimer Square deal. Very ""I'm in downtown Denver, and I want to feel like I'm shopping on Rodeo Drive."" I admit, I went in with preconceptions. I thought that the staff would be rude to me because I just wearing a tshirt and jeans, not the usual designer duds. My mistake. This is actually a pretty cool boutique.
A bit pricey for me (everything costs an average of $200-$400). Still fun to look around and explore. I did like the camisoles on the east wall. They were original and would brighten up any summer or fall outfit. If I was looking to jazz up a date outfit, I would plop down the $48 to spoil myself.
If you need a special occasion dress and want to stand out from the crowd, this is a good place to look. Every long and short dress has a lot of intricate details, like beading or cutouts.
The back of the store is dedicated to wedding dresses, but you might need an appointment to look at them/ try them on. I'm not sure.
The jewelry was a bit gaudy for my taste. Every pair of earrings looked to be for someone ""high society"" or for someone going to prom. Look (you guessed it) very expensive.
The customer service was great and friendly. Can't complain. Thanks for changing my original thoughts about you, Mariel employees.

Mariel's was a great experience for me. Joanne was very freindly and helpful, giving me a nice variety to help me decide what would be the best style for my body type and ceremony location. My mother and Aunt were with me and enjoyed not only looking at the gorgeous wedding dresses but also the selection of dresses for other occasions. In addition I was able to order something origional that is only available from Mariel's. The prices were reasonable and Denise the owner was very helpfull and knowledgeable at my fiting appointment. My five year old daughter was with me and enjoyed her expeirience as well.

I had a very bad experience with Mariel's. First of all, when I bought my dress and veil they packaged them in a way that when I got home and opened the garment bag, my brand new veil was caught in the zipper and ripped. When I let them know what happened they just told me ""well we tell the brides to be careful."" Needless to say I was not to blame and they refused to have any accountability or be held responsible. They were clearly negligent when they packaged it and refused to admit it. Secondly, I was told by the Tailor that they should not have sold me the dress because it was too big for my size and they mis-measured me. My dress has been at the tailors for two months because of their negligent service and is still not done. I am getting married in two weeks! The alterations will now cost more than the dress, again because of their negligence. Lastly, I bought my wedding shoes there when I bought the dress. The rhinestone fell out of the buckle immediately after putting them on during a dress fitting. I tried to exchange them and they told me they could not help me because the shoes were purchased in January. They gave me a rhinestone and told me to glue my shoes back together before the wedding. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I do not recommend them to anyone and urge everyone not to use their services. There dresses are reasonable but you pay a price in many other ways.

I've read the reviews and it's either a love or a hate relationship with Mariel's. I loved the boutique! We were warned that they are very stickler about appointments before going in there and were prepared. It's for a great reason-- They sell dresses off the floor in order to keep prices low therefore a sales associate has to help you try on every dress. You're not allowed to touch any of the dresses you try on-- which keeps each dress in pristine condition. LOVED the store and the service! Found my dress. Would highly suggest to anyone who is seriously looking at buying a wedding dress or any funky fun piece of clothing. Wouldn't suggest to a bridezilla who wants her way and insists on being a princess!

Honestly, I don't understand where these dissatisfied people are shopping, because it cannot possibly be Mariel on Larimer. The clothing, bridal selections and customer service in Denise's shop are absolutely second to none. I have been in her shop many times and am always treated with respect, kindness and courtesy by all the staff, as have all the other customers I have encountered during my visits there. The energy that Denise and her staff cultivate is welcoming and warm.
