Key Motor Company
5901 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80221
|Mon - Fri:|
I did not purchase a car from Key Motors, or even visit their lot, due to their unprofessional and idiotic communications. I was contacted by one of their representatives, Kimberly, in response to a craigslist ad that I had inquired about.
When I answered the phone, I said "hello" and she said "oh my goodness" and then hung up on me. I imagined some emergency and did not think poorly of her or Key Motors at that point. It could've been anything from spilled coffee to a real emergency and I understand that. It happens.
It was when she called back a minute later that I began to question the legitimacy of this dealer. The next call was prefaced with "Hello? Hello? Can you hear me?". I could hear her and replied affirmatively, but she continued like that for a full 30 seconds.
Once she realized that I could hear her, the real lunacy began. To begin, the online ad was inaccurate. They did not have that vehicle, nor had they just sold it, even though the post was only an hour old.
She then told me that they had other, similar vehicles, starting with a 2004 Ford Windstar. The Windstar was discontinued in 2003. I told her that I was not interested in Fords or Chevy's, that I had a specific van in mind, but she went on to offer a series of Fords and Chevy's anyway. This took several minutes to correct as she didn't pay attention to a word I said.
She eventually said that she would get back to me and I was thankful just to get off the phone. I had already lost interest in doing business with them.
Over the next few hours, that disinterest was solidified by the following text messages, all of which were pointless, confusing, and appeared to be written by a 5 year old. I've numbered them to help eliminate some of the inherent confusion. Please enjoy at your leisure:
1. Yes Do U Need A Lift IN it ?
2. Ok I Have A 2o04 Ford Wind Rtar White w - 144 K Miles Dual Rear Air All 4 doors Open All Pnwer
(yes, she sent me a text with just her name)
4. A 2oo1 Grnd Caravan 115 K 137 K Chery Red Tan Inteior in the 3 S ?
5. Just Had Dinner rerved Call
After that I asked her to please lose my number.
The owner, Key, gave me the wrong paperwork to finish registering my car(which was a piece of crap by the way) and when I called to get the correct paper work he yelled at me and told me it wasnt his problem. I repeatedly had to tell him that my name is not "honey" and that he needed to treat me with a little more respect. He was rude and unprofessional and to this day I do not have the correct paperwork to register my car. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MAN!!!!!
My dad bought a used car from Key motors about a year before he passed away. While taking care of all of my dad's items and packing up his apartment a couple of months before he passed, his friend gave me some information about this car. He said he talked to the owner to help my dad get the car paid off a few months before and he had agreed to $80.00 to get the title.
As time has passed I have taken care of a few things at a time as I could afford to do so. I called to get information on my dad's car and to try to settle with the owner. He introduced himself as "Key" over the phone. He explains that he only keeps records "by hand" and he doesn't have the time. As I try to give him information he kept interrupting me. I explained that since I am trying to settle the account, couldn't he please look for the info. He says he will call me back.
He called me right back and gave me the info I requested. He even remembered my dad's friend that came to negotiate for my dad to settle his account with him. When he told me what the balance was, he said it was $145.00. I asked him if I could offer him what my dad's friend had negotiated and he raised the price to $225.00. He accused me of trying to swindle him and said he would take $225.00 and wouldn't charge me a late fee and HUNG UP!! I wouldn't recommend KEY MOTORS as I found him dishonest and uncompassionate, rude and unprofessional.
