Abbey Delray South

My mother was a resident in abbey delray south for almost 3 years and the care and service that she received was unparalleled. I visited 7 days a week and spent many hours involved with the residents and staff. Perhaps the most limited resident, my mother remained calm and as happy as one could be with advanced Alzheimer's. It was the best and I had many experiences in other places that were horrific.

Don't do it! My Mom was a resident of Abbey Delray South for 8 years. She paid over $100,000 plus a hefty monthly fee, with the promise that she would be taken care of for life. That did not happen. I fought for years to get her the care promised. I got a lot of lip service (yes, we will do this, etc...) but whenever I went to visit (I live in VA), she was not receiving the care discussed on each previous visit. When she could no longer be alone (severe dementia) and needed full time care, which even the Abbey admitted, she was refused admittance to the nursing facility "because she did not need "skilled nursing care". As a result, for the last six weeks of her life, we were forced to pay $12,000 for private duty care. The day she died, the private duty aide called the nursing facility four times and they never responded. Mom died while waiting for what she had paid for during the past eight years. I am aware of other residents that have faced similar hurdles in their efforts to obtain the care that they had been promised. People that are still healthy seem to enjoy their lives there, but don't get sick! The Abbey will not live up to their promises.
