Originally located in Addison & Villa Park, suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. EFG (Elmhurst Flower Growers, Inc.) Orchids has been in business since 1939. You could say that current owner, fourth generation George Hausermann Jr. has plants rooting thru his veins. George grew up with flowers, all beautiful, but nothing like glass greenhouse, after green house of cattleya orchid flowers when in bloom for cut flower production. Approximately 120,000 sq. ft. George grew up with not only amazing orchids, but a tropical exotic lush plant sales area boasting a water fall, and Grandma Gertrude's Flower Shop, "Erickson's" with variety after variety of cut flowers arranged to perfection. George's full focus in the business began in 1990, when he began EFG's orchid plant sales. A full retail & wholesale operation. We averaged 40 retail orchid and garden shows a year located thru out the Midwest, New York, California, and down to Florida. We ran a truck route to garden centers and flower shops on the North Shore and into Chicago. With increasing costs of natural gas, and the dream of living in a warmer climate. EFG relocated to DeLand in 1999. We service Retail and Wholesale at our location with delivery to Flower Shops, Interior Plant Design, Garden Centers, and Plant Nurseries located thru out Central Florida, and up to Jacksonville. We ship wholesale and retail in the States and internationally. We participate in orchid and garden shows through out Florida. Established in 2003, Annual Orchtober Fest always takes place the weekend before Halloween. Friday-Sunday 9am-4pm.Retail sales from our greenhouse, along with guest vendors from around the World. Free parking, free admittance. Authentic German Food (served from 11-2pm). Hayrides, jump house, emu's, goats, donkey's, and turkeys.
