Decatur School District 61 offers education to more than 10,000 students in grades kindergarten through 12. It operates more than 25 elementary, middle and high schools throughout Macon and Piatt counties in Illinois. The district also operates a regional technical academy, an alternative school and an early childhood center for children. Its curriculum includes language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, home economics, business studies, and physical and health education. It provides various extracurricular activities to students, such as Odyssey of the Mind, special chorus, newspaper, field trips and book club. The district has an athletic department that offers a variety of sports activities, such as basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, soccer and cheerleading.
