Far Oaks Orthopedists

When you need an orthopedist, everyone recommends Far Oaks. It's almost automatic. I've been here several times, and have generally found it to be mediocre. I mean, it was ok but nothing to rave about. After my experience today, however, I won't be going back. I broke my ankle (on my wedding day lol!) and saw Dr. Ahluwalia (who was fine). Have me a boot etc. and asked that I come back after the honeymoon for another X-ray to make sure all was well. When I call post-honeymoon, the receptionist literally said we don't have any appointments because he's out of town for two weeks. She offered one finally 4 weeks away which I declined because it was my first day back to school (I'm a teacher). I said that I'd be happy to see another dr as it was really just for an X-ray. She said I wasn't allowed until after 90 days since he was my original Dr. Whatever. So anyway, she transferred me to Ida May saying maybe she'd let me see another Dr. Well, little miss Ida May called me and was an absolute snot throughout the entire conversation. The details of the conversation would bore you, but it was an awful experience. Only go to this practice if you're wiling to do it on their terms!

First off if you have an appointment for 10 and get there early be prepared to wait until 10:30 at the earliest only to sit in a room for another 20 minutes, thinking why do they have me come back here to just wait longer. Not to mention that I had a surgery that I scheduled with one of their receptionists and she forgot to schedule the surgery...but when I confronted her the day before I was supposed to go into surgery she lied to me and said she tried to call me, but never left me a voicemail...finally after surgery I was supposed to go to physical therapy and I called their office 2 weeks before my appointment because the physical therapist needed directions from the doctor on what to do...when I got to the physical therapist they said they have not received them and it took them 2 hours until they could get them...which had me waiting the whole time. Not to mention there customer service...if you are looking to get a hold of anyone in the office you have to leave a voicemail because they seem to never ever be available and after that voicemail I hope you like to pray because that's what you have to do to even get a call back....avoid this place like the plague.



But please let me add what I just heard from someone else....

I had my ACL surgery at Far Oaks. Where do I begin? First, my anesthesiologist never showed up on the day of surgery. Second, they forgot to anesthetize the back of my leg so I woke up in agonizing pain which they treated with a heavy dose of morphine which caused me to break out in hives all over my body. Staples and stitches were removed too early and they had to sew it back up, delayed healing a couple more months. I could go on and on (yes, it gets worse) but I will stop there. I understand your frustration!

Simply the best. Absolutely. Highly recommended
