It is hard to be really neutral while writing service/product reviews as we set high expectations because of service/product received in the past from a different provider. But we forget how much we paid. Yes, the car I rented from Firefly Fort Lauderdale smelled like pet urine. Yes, the rear wheel made noise. Yes, the car seemed to get a bit hot, especially around the driver foot area. Yes, the service was very slow the rental agents were not exactly polite, they were more indifferent if not downright rude.
BUT, in the end, I paid $348 for a 4 week rental on a mid-size car. The lowest I could get from ANY national chain from Airport location was about $650.
People who are reviewing Firefly, tend to forget this crucial aspect of the price they pay and tend to get overrun by the expectations that are not met.
But I, personally, was OK. I saved about $300 which I was able to spend on something else! All one eventually needs is a reliable car that can get you from point A to point B without causing a big dent on your wallet !

WORST PLACE EVER! I don't mind cheap but I don't like being ripped off, lied to and misled. I just had a horrible experience with your Fort Lauderdale location. We were lied to about how the fuel would be charged upon return and then overcharged. Then we were misinformed about Plate Pass and now are going to be charged more fees. I spoke with several people at the counter and on the phone only to be treated with excuses and bad attitudes. Basically in the end I got the "too bad" answer from all the Firefly employees in regards to my problems.

DO NOT GO TO THIS COMPANY OR PLACE!!!!!!!!!!! It was the worst experience ever! They advertise that they are in the airport which they are not. I had to take two shuttle buses to get to some dingy location only to wait for an hour because only one person was there and he was helping someone for that long. When I finally got to the desk they gave me a spark compact car which was not what I asked for and wanted to charge me to upgrade to another car. After finally switching the car and leaving it was over 2 hours in there! Returning the car was just as bad! I told them I would be returning the car at 4:30 am only to arrive and be told that they were not opening until 5am, mind you my flight was at 6 am! When I finally got inside at 5 the lady at the desk was very rude and had a bad attitude. She charged me for extra gas because the lady who checked the car on the way out wrote the wrong Spark instead of Sentra. Even though everything else on that paper was consistent with the Sentra AND she agreed that the gas was where it was supposed to be she STILL charged me for gas! I tried calling the company several times and got no response. I then tried calling customer service only to be told that I would have to contact them directly. By this point I was beyond upset so I have filed a claim instead. This company is the worst ever. Please I beg you read the reviews before you book and save your money!

I did not find any issues with the counter folks here. The car was clean, the woman at the counter was outstanding, the guy assisting them help some out of the country people get a car after the lot was sold out. I can not tell you how helpful the counter people were - you have to have patience and expect delays in travel. These people were respectful, the woman checking the car out at the exit gate was considerate and all in all I'll be back next time for a car from Firefly......

Don't let the price fool you

The worst car rentalagency I have ever dealt with. They advertise a car and then when you get there they don't have the car and they try to give you a sub standard car and tell you that is on their list. The customer service is horrible. They claim that you shouldn't expect to pay less and get a car like you do from the other agencies. Direct quote from their customer service have to take to transfer to get there they are not directly at the terminal and the car they gave you is basically a piece of crap.the car was dirty high mileage didn't even have a remote for the door.. They claim they are affiliated with Hertz and they are not responsible for any problems.

Stay away from this company, regardless of how cheap the rental. They lie, make up their own rules, with no regard for what it states on their own website! They tried passing off a Dodge Avenger as full size, and forced us to upgrade and pay extra. My elderly mother battling cancer would have too much difficulty getting in and out of this smaller car. Will dispute and get back the difference...just not worth the hassle.

Worst Car Rental Experience, EVER!

I will never, ever, ever rent from this place again. I booked my car well in advance from Expedia. It took almost an hour to get a Hyundai Elantra. When I got in the car, there was a stain on the front seat and it smelled bad. I went back in and told them I didn't want the car. They didn't have another car for me and wouldn't upgrade it for me. I took the car. It pulled to the left and sounded like the rear wheel bearing was going to go. I called the next morning and told them I was coming in to get another car because the one I had was not safe. They didn't want to give me one, and I had to wait an hour and a half and argue with the desk attendant before they got me another one. I missed half a day of my vacation. NEVER AGAIN. This place will never stay in business, it can't compete with the rest.

Very very bad customer service

Even though it's cheep compared to other rentals but I had to wait three hours. I was sixth in line but took two and half hours to call me. The car I got had empty tank and to replace that car took another hour. The manager was too rude. I would prefer to pay $50 extra rather than waist that much time.



Great deal even if they aren't quick.

There was a wait to get our car but dropoff was quicker. Shuttle guy was great very pleasant. Not hard to get there just go to the rental car place at the airport walk 15 steps and grab their shuttle which runs every ten minutes.

Dropoff was smooth and really easy to find even though there was some construction nearby. Car was good not brand new but 2 years old and in good shape. Was worried to book because of all the neg reviews but would def. Would use them again. Just make sure you bring if back at the right fuel level because their is a hefty charge for fuel negatives. No biggie there is a mobil nearby. Also their toll road deal isnt that good so we got a 5 dollar transponder from publix which was pretty slick.

Gave them five stars because even though we had to be very patient at rental car pick up their prices rocked it.

Nobody answers their phones, not an onsite property - difficult if not impossible to find. Customer service for corporate isnt in this country and can't help you. Save your money elsewhere, dont cut corners on this one. AVOID THEM.
