My worst customer service experience in my life happened here and reading the other reviews, it makes more sense. Milton was incredibly rude to me, most likely because I looked like a student with no money. I asked for his business card and he refused to give me one and said he didn't have a card. He made no effort to welcome me or treat me like a customer. No wonder he treated me that way after reading other reviews, I wasn't someone he could take advantage of because I didn't have money!
I had an almost identical experience as Leo W. My husband and I downsized our home and had Mr. Kent sell our items on consignment. We had bought many of those items from him over a 20 year relationship, some of them on consignment from other people. Now I wonder if we had stolen goods. Once we legally removed the items that he had not sold to another antique dealer we discovered that he had lied about the province of many of the items we had bought from him. He took about $80,000 on consignment and we had a 5 year legal battle to get a small portion of that back. Then we took him to court to get legal fees, again another battle. All in all, we lost money but we could not allow his theft, and yes it is THEFT, to stand. We ended up in mediation over legal fees and Milton was finally forced to hire an attorney. We found out at mediation he had agreed to represent Milton after he had been on the opposing side in a case similar to ours. (not sure what that was about) Milton lied then got angry at us and our attorneys. I would NEVER do business with him. He is dishonest and will steal your items.
I've had a couple times in my life where I needed to take a loan at a pawn shop. It's been a long while and someone suggested I use King Family Pawn for a loan I needed. The word INCOMPETENCE does not even begin to summarize how I was treated. I dealt with FIVE separate people for more than an hour and one person would say something and then someone else would give me a totally different story, blah blah blah. The crazy thing is that I had read the reviews on this place before going there and all the negative ones were dead on accurate. I'm glad I did not end up using them because I have a feeling I would have had a horror story like the ones others have shared. If you need a loan, stick with the pawn shop that is near the Greenville Ave / Lovers Lane intersection (just a a couple blocks south on Greenville) -- those people are straight up and won't shaft you. Do NOT use King Pawn - highly UNPROFESSIONAL!
