The Meadows Health and Rehabilitation Center

This is the worst place I've seen. I have worked in government facilities before, but none like this. My husband was sent there for rehab on Wednesday night and it has been a night mare ever since. The staff all around are awful. The Nurse gave my husband's room mate the insulin that we bought from home, not checking which patient is suppose to get it.. Unbelievable! I want to call the State. The call lights are not answered in a timely fashion, if answered at all. I don't know what will become of this place. It should be closed. This place doesn't deserve a rating. Can't even reach anyone in the office.

I am being discharged tomorrow and this is a very bad place . The aides yell and scream and play their music loud in the hall ways all night long . The language they use is disgusting and obcene . The kitchen/dietary staff is a joke . If they can slop it together and pour it out of a can - they serve it . Food is usually served cold and undercooked . Some of the food is spoiled . The cleaning staff is horrible and does not clean . The aides are rude and lazy and incapable of doing their job much less taking care of anybody . The management does not care and is dishonest . this is a prison in hell and should be closed and staff prosecuted for abuse . Somebody please report this place . I wrote 2 politicians here in texas and 2 Tv stations and got no reply .

I moved my father into their facility and I was immediately alarmed by the number of people that merely wander the halls. I was told not to worry because "they couldn't go very far". Every week I received a new message from the Head of Nursing, asking me to discuss my father's "bad" behavior that they needed my help with because he simply had to understand that if his roommate called for the nurse to take him to the bathroom, he couldn't do it due to liability issues and concern for his health, when he was a live in Nurse's Aid prior to bring admitted. My father said that if he hasn't taken his roommate, he would have urinated and deficated on himself. The straw that broke the camel's back? When I received a call at midnight because they realized my dad had wandered off, but "no one ever walks away from the property." They found him for hours later exactly where I said to look. He was there the entire time. Two nurses went on break before they were going to call the police and issue an Amber alert. Unbelievable.

This is a terrible facility. Every time I visited, I saw several elderly people standing or sitting by themselves in the hallway. My grandmother was also recently abused there by one of the nurses and for many days, the supervisor of nurses refused to give us any details of the incident. When I was finally able to talk to him, he was rude, insensitive, and yelled at me. We have since taken my grandmother out of this facility.
