I went to the Kismet Lounge on a whim when could not find any club to go to for my birthday weekend celebration. I stopped the club scene years ago, but this place made me actually miss going out. I had the BEST time there; they played a great mix of hip hop and techno and the hookah was another awesome experience of it's own . I went with friends who came from out of town to celebrate my 29th birthday; we had so much fun there that we have decided to start making this place our offical lounge when they come to town. I HIGHLY recommend this lounge you will not regret going.

I first checked this place out after a great Saturday night dinner at Cafe Izmir next door. The waiter, Sammy, overheard my group talking about where we were goiong to go afterward and suggested we check it out next door.
We went and ordered a hookah service, and had some great drinks poured by the supper frinedly bartenders. When we go there the DJ was playing mostly top-40 hip hop mixes and it wasn't very crowded.
Around 11 it started getting pretty busy and we moved to the lovely, cozy where we could lounge on the bed/couch things with the hookah and listen to a different DJ that threw in quiet a bit of funky, catchy vocal house music amongst the hip hop. Great people watching off the patio too... we could see all the goofballs and tramps walking in and out of Kinki's accross the street.
I've been back several times since this first visit back in September and I have yet to be disappointed. This place has a really wide variety of clientale... there's a Latino crowd, a lot of Persians, frat boys, etc. There's somethign for everyone.

Kismet is the place to be!! The DJ's bump the club up! If you have never been, you should at least try it out. A friend told me to come here and I love it! I am there about once a week.. It has a great atmosphere.. I met a lot of people here and they all seem to be regulars. The bartenders are cool and pretty friendly and not to mention, they can shake up some yummy drinks. =-) They also have shot specials throughout the night.. Don't forget to try one of their hookah pipes.. I recommend orange cream or honey & melon together.

This is the place to go if you're looking for a crowded, overpriced waste of your time. The owners, bartenders and bouncers are verbally and physically abusive to their regular patrons. My friends and I went there looking for a good time and ended up in an altercation because the the dj refused to give back a CD a friend of ours let him use. What kind of dj needs someone else's music anyway??? Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else in Dallas.

I had heard of this place-never actually been there until a friend invited us one Wednesday night!. We tried Ghost Bar first but the line was super slow so we headed to Kismet!...Let me tell yall for a Weekday night, it is the bomb!!....Great Music, the bar is pretty quick and the people are great!... there is different types of music every minute so if you're up to trying new stuff this is the place! It does get pretty crowded but once you are there, you really don't care because the music is awesome! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time and up to meeting new people. There is also an outside patio where you can dance and just chill! As far as I know, Wednesday is a good night, but am not sure about the rest of the nights! ...I will definitely be going next Wednesday and the Wednesday after that and the Wednesday after that.....!!!

No where to sit, bad music, and expensive as hell. Not only did I get charged an arm and a leg($10) for well vodka and tonics but the bartender helped herself to $50 when/after I tabbed out. Last time I will EVER go there! Give me a dive bar over Kismet any day!

all of the comments below (except for the very first one) are so true! worst staff - the door guy was rude and pretty much a sissy. bouncers are the same. bartenders will cheat you out of your money and charge you for drinks you never got. bad music. never coming back when i'm in town again and my friends that live in dallas ban the place.

Come on! I agree with the other reviewers. Can't Dallas have a cool ""lounge"" to go to without this higher-than mighty fashion requirements to get in? I hate hypocracy. One door man's dressed like an insurance salesman in polished cotten, while the other pushes out fashion advice, yet dons a t-shirt and has the audacity to enforce dress code. (They didn't like my artist friends hat, which screamed personality, as opposed to the ""Forever 21"" and ""Aberecrombie"" crowd.) Come on! Do you want our money or not? It's varying personalities and interesting crowds that keep businesses interesing and OPEN long-term.

Recently visited this place this past weekend for the first time and it sucked. Music was ok, but service was horrible, place is way too crowded, there is no dance floor and it is way too smokey. I understand it's a lounge, but c'mon. If you're going to play loud dance music, have a place for people to dance. Oh and not to mention that after I signed my CLOSED out bill, I got a charge for DOUBLE what my receipt says. So it's way too much for the waitresses to handle.

From 2 visits to Kismet, I've:
Encountered an extremely rude door guy who threatened a girl
Expensive cover & expensive drinks on a weeknight--w/ no live music
Bartenders that will ""forget"" to fulfill your mojito order, so they can get their ""buck and change"" tip for popping the top off a beer for somebody else.
Dallas has better to offer-seek your nightlife elsewhere!
