I agree with the person that posted that if your a guy that has any type of dance skills or personable skills the staff will single you and ban you for any reason. The bouncers and staff are pricks and couldn't get a chick if they paid big money. They get jealous if you can dance and get numbers. It's true y'all.
I have been going to Red River in Dallas for a little over a year now. Great place to dance and meet up with friends. The dancers are of all skill levels and they do provide dance lessons on Thursday and Friday nights. My friends and I have generally had a great time on Thursday and Saturday nights.
However, for the last two weekends we have encountered a couple of really annoying things. While they do have a great house band, the volume was set so high that it leaves you unable to even have a conversation without yelling. Ears were ringing for the next day! Really...do you think we can't hear it? It was so loud that you had to hold your glass on the table or it shimmied off on to the floor. NO KIDDING! As well, there has been a progression of people bringing drinks on the dance floor and they spill causing potential danger for those that are trying to dance. Let's not forget those who are just standing on the dance floor talking. Seriously, that is what the bar and table area are for. The dance floor is for DANCING!!! It's typically the younger crowd (those under 25) and they do allow minors. However, let's get some help from the bouncers here. When three of my friends/co-dancers told the bouncers, they shrugged it off and said, 'just let us do our jobs' but then did nothing. As there are not many country bars in the Dallas area, you would think they would try harder to make it a more pleasant experience for those who really want to dance.

DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT if you just want to have a good time.
Men; the bouncers believe that they have an monopoly on the women, if one accidentally talks, looks, smiles at the wrong female they will set you up to be arrested for public intoxication which is a $393 fine in Dallas and 6 to 12 hours in CDC. The bouncers also claim that ""you are under arrest"" and attempt to detain those whom they do not like or accidentally bump into the wrong person. I witnessed this as the had a plain clothed individual as he was leaving intentionally step in a gentleman's path to create contact; therefore, an ""assault"" had occurred and he was surrounded by 7 goofy uniformed men uniformed douchbag wanna be law enforcement officers that were unable to meet the basic IQ requirements to enter law enforcement of any kind currently using techniques that are indeed unlawful to physically abuse and detain men that they are unfamiliar or accidentally say ""hi"" to the wrong female.
The man that was escorted out stated several times ""I am leaving and I do not want to cause any problems;"" as he approached the door of the establishment a 6'4"" FAT DUMPY bouncer stated that the man who was completely cooperating and complying with ""the gang of 7"" states that he was ""under arrest"" and again made it so the man unintentionally ""bumped"" into him; thereby, causing another unintended assault. They corralled the man and and called law enforcement over to interview the man once law enforcement arrived to interview the man the FAT DUMPY bouncer and Rolly Polly General Manager came over to the man yelling epitaphs such as ""you are going to jail!"" ""Your going down."" It was determined by a REAL law enforcement officer for the City of Dallas that he indeed meant no harm and was not any source of violence and was released.

well, been to red river twice.
nice place, nice people, good dancing, nice decor.
like all that just fine.
if you go early, it is absolutely GREAT.
we went early and made the mistake of staying late.
it does get crowded as the night goes on.
that wasn't too bad though.
what was intolerable was the sound level as the night progressed.
it became progressively louder and LOUDER.
it became impossible to hold a conversation later in the evening - probably around 10 pm.
we left with ears ringing and throats sore from trying to speak over the music.
next time we will arrive early an plan on leaving early also!!!!!
one thing missing - an area for line line dancing - it would be a nice addition.

The dance floor is big but needs repairs done. The staff is very friendly. The band is always good. There are the ""regulars"" in their little clicks. Avoid them at all cost. It is nothing but drama. Beware of the players whose goal is to increase their numbers. They typically dance very well which is their edge. There are a few there. You will spot them. Showy. Attention seekers. The dance may be fun at the time but the aftermath is NOT worth it. Stick to the real cowboys. Leave the wanna be's alone.

Handsome cowboys greet you at the door, wonderful music playing -- but you can still hold a conversation inside, great covered smoking area around 3/4 of the building outside and no smoking inside, free dance lessons and see concerts for free when you join the VIP Club. This place makes you feel right at home the minute you walk inside. Appropriate decor in a well-cooled, friendly atmosphere. Mechanical bovine onsite (sorry, they don't allow the actual word on this site, haha). While I am not a big fan of country music, I fell in love with this place the minute I stepped inside, and I will definitely be back for more lessons!

I love this bar! Staff is wonderful (Stacey is the best bartender! I also love Cricket and Keisha!). Always something to do and someone to pick up. Prices are reasonable as well. I have lived most of my life in the DFW metroplex and Red River never lets me down.
