My rating is about 1/2 a star higher than my recent experience at this establishment. To be fair, the redeeming qualities of this place are worth noting and for that, I rounded my rating up versus down. I've never felt compelled to write a Yelp review but as I walked out of this place I knew I had to. I headed in there the other night for a pedi. I was greeted and asked to pick a color as a technician started running water for the foot bath. (Color selection: Meh. Basic but not tragic. I found what I needed but this isn't one of those places that has an endless OPI selection. No Essie. I'd say 1/2 OPI, 1/2 generic salon brand.) THE GOOD: -convenient, clean location -offered a beverage upon sitting down -.good finished product - My toes look pretty. So why 2.5 stars?? The pushy and abrasive boss/manager who is running the place. The TVs are all muted so all you can hear is this woman's voice throughout the salon. When I first heard her persistently trying to up-sell a customer on the paraffin wax upgrades, I thought it was a bit obnoxious but gave her a pass.. A girl's gotta eat, right? When she loudly approached my technician griping something in their native tongue, I surmised that maybe he was doing something wrong and she was simply correcting his technique. But then things started getting WEIRD.. Paraffin wax lady got up to pay. Handed boss/manager a credit card. Bad move. Boss/manager launches into a whole spiel about how they prefer cash -that it costs them $ every time they swipe a card- and if she recalled, she DID inform the lady when she called to schedule her appt that ThEY PREFER CASH and to please prepare for that. The lady apologizes, says she didn't have time to go to ATM but can tip in cash. I'm thinking WTF?!! I'm appalled at how this woman is being treated ESPECIALLY after offering to tip out in cash. Plus, I planned on paying THE SAME WAY. Given the dozens of nail services I've had over the years, 90% have been paid for the same way - service on card, tip in cash. NEVER had a problem doing this. When sh*t starts to get stressful while my feet are being rubbed, I have a problem with that. When boss/manager finished the checkout, she proceeded to replace the technician who had been working on my feet. She tried to sell me on a mani. What about eyebrows? I'm really good at waxing, I do legs, upper lip, and body waxing if you're interested, we can head to the back after I finish painting your toes. For the love of God, I'm in the home stretch of my pedi and just want to finish catching up on emails the way I had been for the last 15 minutes. ENOUGH with the hard sell. By the time I made it to the drying station, I set my purse down beside a sign that said "Our technicians prefer to be paid in CASH. Thank you" It was time for me to pay. Oh boy, this should be fun. As I handed her my card, I received the same icy spiel about the evil credit card companies. I took my card back and handed her the cash tip. **This review has become longer than I intended so I will spare you the uncomfortable details of the personal questions boss/manager asked me in an awkward attempt to make small talk. I believe in being polite but sometimes I just want to check my emails in peace and appreciate when the technician can pick up on basic social cues and let the conversation rest. Bottom line: Credit card processing fees are simply the price of doing business. (I say this as a small business owner who has experience paying these fees.) Pedicures should be relaxing, not riddled with stress. I don't expect to be treated like the Queen of England but there is a modicum of customer service that I do expect. With a nail salon on every corner, I will NOT be returning to this place nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

28. Ocean Nail & Spa
If you are looking to relax, be pampered and not be rushed for your manicure/pedicure, this is the place. The atmosphere is elegant, yet not stuffy and they take their time and are very friendly. The make sure you are happy.
I became a member of this spa back in January and I have had nothing but wonderful experiences, I have met all of the consultants and the manager Billy because I go there very often and they are always extremely nice. I am always offered a robe and water and asked if I am enjoying the services and seeing results. Right now I am only using their Weight Loss/Skincare Services but I plan on upgrading soon so I can use their tanning services, I will review those once I have tried them but until then let me tell you about my 2 favorite treatments! ;) These treatments improve the tone and texture of skin, get rid of cellulite, speed up your metabolism, and help increase the number of calories that you burn. They are both capsule machines that you lay in and they both have LED Red Light Therapy options to help firm and tone skin and treat cellulite. Both machines give you a vibration massage which stimulates circulation, you will burn calories during the treatments but also after because they speed up your metabolism. The Slim Capsule burns the most calories and it actually gives me the same feeling that I get after doing a 30 min hardcore cardio workout. Hydro-Derma Fusion still burns tons of calories but is more focused on skincare benefits. The treatment combines heat with vitamin-infused steam to not only burn calories but also infuse skin with pharmaceutical grade botanicals, minerals and vitamins. Just a few of the ingredients: (Caffeine, Co-Enzyme Q10, Green Tea Extract, Algae Extract, Collagen & Elastin, Hyaluronic Acid, Dead Sea Mineral Salts) All of these ingredients are used in most slimming/anti-cellulite treatments sold at Sephora/Department Stores. So you are burning calories, hydrating your skin AND getting a pharmaceutical grade firming/slimming/anti-cellulite treatment while you lay down and get a massage for 20-30 minutes. If you are serious about your fitness and skincare routine Planet Beach is the perfect add-on to accelerate and enhance your results, TRUST ME - you will see results.
To me, when it comes to mani/pedis, I feel that all nail salons should get the basic job done. Toe and finger nails painted- check. No cuts- check. Clean- check However what makes a nail salon stand out to me, is the way that I am treated. I sometimes feel that certain salons rush you through, or you get the sneaky suspicion that you are not being treated as an highly valued customer. Well- that is NOT the case wtih Nailicious. First of all, everyone was friendly, and I feel that I was treated as someone that was doing them a favor by bringing my business there, versus the other way around. 2nd- their massage chair is the BEST! Not your regular chair- it messages the back and there is also a part that messages the back of your upper thighs (it is in the seat). I guess a hamstring message- whatever it was, it felt great! In addition to the chair message- the foot/leg message and the hand message that come with the standard mani/pedi- is awesome! Not some rushed 2 sec deal, but a pretty good somewhat long message. So all it all, I LOVED it- I will go back again and have no problem spending my money there. Also, they waxed my eyebrows, and they look great. I wanted threading- but call ahead because I don't think their threader is there all the time.
I have been a client of Renew Spa for five years. The people who provide the services are awesome, the equipment is the best in the business and the products used are top of the line. Whitney has always been my esthetician for my facials and laser hair removal needs. She is always professional, caring and knowledgeable about all her services. I look forward to seeing her again and enjoying my facial. She is terrific! Treena and Amber take great care to give me the best manicure and pedicure ever. They have a wonderful attitude and they are fun to talk with while they are working their butts off. I highly recommend both of them. Try the Shellac manicure. It doesn’t chip for two weeks on me and I can wear any color I want. Monica does my hair and she has a real gift for choosing the right color for my hair and she goes above and beyond to satisfy me. You can tell she loves what she does and going the extra mile for her client.
It's rare that you will ever see me give a nail salon 5 stars, but The Nail Spa deserves every single star. My first experience here was when I came in to get my eyebrows waxed. Not sure what all the lady did or put on post-waxing, but whatever it was made the redness go away faster than usual and I didn't break out, which is usually what happens. At this point I've had my eyebrows waxed 3 times, had 3 manicures and 2 pedicure. I don't use their organic nail polish (I use OPI), but they are great with shaping and cleaning your nails and unlike with other manicures from other places where the paint starts to chip after day 2, The nail spa manicures last for days and days. The first manicure didn't chip until the 7th or 8th day and even at day 13/14, my nails still looked really good. Luckily this place is right by my work. When I'm not getting calgel done, I will definitely be getting my mani/pedi services done here.
Firstly, I need to say I've never worn eyelash extension and I was incredibly nervous about the whole process. So when I started calling lash studios I had more than a couple questions lol! Xena was the only person I spoke with that took the time to explain the process and the difference in eye lashes. She also managed to squeeze my sister and I in for same day appts! While my sister was having hers installed, Xena brought me into the massage room, gave me a COMPLIMENTARY facial and hand scrub which left my skin glowing! Natalie, the eye lash tech, is absolutely amazing, she's sweet as pie and will put you to sleep! She doesn't count lashes! She will keep adding until they are as full and dramatic as you desire:) And they offer wine lol! They're located downtown and parking can be a madhouse so try to give yourself a few extra mins. But other than that, I'm completely smitten with this studio and the ppl that work there!
LivingSocial.com did save my body from turning into big chunk of cellulite. I tried everything from working out to running, even went far as not eating for many days. Nothing helped. My girlfriend suggest that I try VelaShape to reduce the amount of cellulite. She did it before at some spa and after a couple of months, she looked better than ever. The only problem was, It costs a lot of money but I didn't have as much money as her. So I turned to deal of the days sites like Living Social. It's quite famous here in States. I bough a voucher for a couple of VelaShape sessions at Renew Beauty Med Spa in Dallas. Today was my first treatment with Cindy and I have to tell you that I liked it very much. I don't see the results right now but it is still too early to tell. Tomorrow is my second appointment. So far, I like how she handles the machine. I did not feel pain, only mild discomfort. Stay tuned for more...
I've never really had a problem with this salon until yesterday. I had a male tech named Andy. I asked him if he could do my nails a certain way and I showed him a picture of how I wanted them. He did not say one word and looked unpleased with my request. He rushed the whole time and did not do my nails how I requested. Another thing that really bothered me was the fact he cut the side of my thumb with the nail-filer because of how hard he was filing my nail that it cut my skin. He hurt me a couple of times with the drill until I pulled back my hand because of the pain then he was careful. He was rushing so much that he put cuticle oil on my hands and nails then ran a hot rag over them and my nails got jacked up because they weren't dry and ready. So he had to do the last clear coat over on both my hands. And then charged me $45 last time I'll be going there. My thumb is stil in pain of how raw it is.
My experience with Renew Beauty Med Spa was a good one. I heard from friends and a lot of people online were really blaming them for poor service and ripping customers off. But I wanted to try it for myself to see what all the buzz was about. I purchased a cheap deal that offered one session of teeth whitening with Brenda. I live close to Dallas because the spa was there so the drive was pretty fast there. The whole procedure from star to finish took about an hour plus or minus a few minutes. It was rather painless. I am sensitive to pain but surprisingly was fully relaxed throughout the whole thing. My teeth felt very white after it. Brenda also gave me a free samples to take home which included a teeth whitening pen.
I am responding to the above reviews by Dave Tan, Jeanne Gwilym, Letizia Helene, Gabrielle B. These reviews are so far fetch and completely ridiculously untrue, i can't imagine anyone taking them seriously. It's very apparent that whoever wrote these reviews is the same one person making up multiple accounts/names, and its obvious it's the same disgruntled former employee. I have been working for renew for 3 yrs now, and this is by far the best company i have ever worked for. This is a very honest company and management does everything in their power to keep their employees/customers happy. Feel free to call me at Renew I am always here! I am a real person, not a fake name to write bad reviews.
