Mashy is a phenomenal human being from the inside out. Being an esthetician is her way of helping others. This is not just a job for her - it's her passion in life and she does it extremely well. Both men and women can feel very comfortable in coming to her. She is extremely professional, yet supremely caring and compassionate about each and every client she serves. I have been a client of hers for about fourteen months, and have never been happier. I was extremely self conscious about coming to see her at first, because I have Multiple Sclerosis. I wanted to get the waxing to keep my appearance at it's best. She put me at ease right away. The waxing did not hurt in the very least, even the Brazilian. Mashy is very open minded in that she doesn't care what walk of life you come from. She treats everyone with the respect and dignity in which she would be wanted to be treated in return. Mashy gladly takes appointments for men. women, and children alike. Her goal is to make their appointment as enjoyable and as relaxing as possible. The ladies in the salon are super sweet and warmly welcoming of all their clients. The rooms for the waxing are very private and you can feel very secure that no one will accidentally walk in and suddenly see you. Everything is thoroughly sanitized and cleaned, meaning all instruments and the salon itself. I am always getting complements on my appearance, and I credit it to Mashy. She helps me to feel better about myself. It shows how deeply she cares about her clients when you come in and see her. Mashy's reflexology is a clear winner. It's a 45 minute massage that is to die for. She can tell just by massaging your feet what your stress points are. When she was doing mine one time, she knew I had problems with my balance without even asking me beforehand. If you have a physical disability and don't have the mobility to do certain things like shave your legs, underarms, or face, Mashy can take care of that through waxing or threading. It's all totally pain free. In that aspect she's been an absolute lifesaver for me. One can feel comfortable in enlisting the help of her professional skincare services. Mashy offers facials that are incredible. I had one and fell asleep on the table. Mashy just let me take a nap because I was so relaxed - lol! I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone wanting a kind, caring, and compassionate esthetician who will professionally perform the waxing or facial service you want. I jokingly told her one time that if she were to ever move back to Iran, that she would have a line of clients lined up at DFW airport going there to seek out her services. She's that good at what she does. She's very open minded and accepting of all people no matter what their religion, race, sexual preference, disability, etc etc. I am not a spokesperson for Mashy. I am just a regular customer that is telling what I think. She deserves more recognition that I'm giving her here. The bottom line is this. If you want to go with the best then you'll definitely want to see Mashy. She's a rare breed in the beauty world. There aren't many like her around if any at all.
Alexandre’s is one of Dallas' fastest growing and most diverse live entertainment venues. Since the bar's opening in 2004, the team at Alexandre's has successfully shaped the space into an award winning neighborhood bar (Best Lounge-2008 Dallas Voice Reader’s Choice Awards, Best Lounge, Best Drink Specials, and Best Bartender (Robert Stahl)-2007 Dallas Voice Reader’s Choice Awards, and Best Happy Hour-Lambda Pages Awards 2007, Best Martini-2005 TXT Magazine Best Of). The décor in Alexandre's is sophisticated, but cozy--- from the signature custom leather "kissing booths', pearl white walls, blue-flake granite bar top, to the faux marble lighted bar, the attention to detail promotes a very “New York feel”—but you won't find any pretentiousness here! The friendly staff is legendary for promoting behavior that never lets you forget that the bar's number one priority is for you to have fun!! Alexandre's is best known for it's fresh and original approach to live entertainment. Entertainers are featured every night of the week, and range from solo acts to full bands (including rock, blues, rhythm and blues, country), and at any time a professional musician may take the stage to perform a set or just provide fill-in to our veritable cast of merry-makers. However, fans of lounge acts and cabaret shows may want to reconsider their selected hangout for the evening. The management's decision to have "a free concert every night" resulted in an overwhelmingly positive response due to the crowd's growth. Don't be surprised if the crowd gets downright rowdy as the evening progresses! But do expect to clap, stomp, laugh and sing along at this one-of-a-kind establishment.
The Goat is an odd place. I've heard some of the best live blues & jazz around in this bar and I've been around. It's 'out of the way' location alone marks it as 'easy to miss'. It's a dive bar, unpretentious for the better part and now sees a cross-over to the 20 to 30's crowd (karaoke 'Punk to Bob Wills'... lol) on Wednesdays and Sundays. Although the gems are the Monday night Blues Jams with Tony DeCicco, Perry Jones & James Perkins and every Thursday night, Pete Barbeck with Tim Neilley & Fred Gleber host the currently longest running Blues and Rock & Roll Jam in town! They started playing there when it was called the 'Office Lounge' just over 10 years ago. Like any other bar or music venue, they have their slow nights and then pack 'em the next. The list of artists who have at one time or another hit their stage, is impressive indeed. Including (outside the above mentioned main-stays), - random order - Lucky Peterson, 'Jr Boy' Jones, Joe Jonas, Pops Carter, Johnnie Woods, Bill Eden, Texas Slim, Hash Brown, Lance Lopez, James Hinkle, Andrea Dawson, JR & Sister Rose (for years on Tuesdays), The Kenny Barker Band (with David Jo Frame & Don Landry - special guest 'Bruce Bowland', also a long loyal mainstay on Tues., Fri. or Sat.), TopCats, Silvertones, Rob Hunt, Aaron Burton (recently), Jackie Don Loe with Jay Dronge & Peter Kaplan, every 3rd Fri of the month... I can go on forever...(don't be mad cause I didn't mention yer name...) You wanna hear someone blow? I take my chances with The Goat on Mondays and Thursdays anytime! For Fridays and Saturdays, check their calendar on myspace.
Stan's is a great place, the staff is always friendly. Love the atmosphere very laid-back and I always feel like family there. The age group of customers is varied, making me feel right at home. The food is so delicious, the taco salad is extremely yummy. I am a vegetarian but am able to get it made more to fit my needs and it is mouth-watering. There are so many good dishes on the menu but another favorite of mine is the Junior chips and dip - OMG talk about delicious. It's more than just a queso dip!! The savory flavors from all the ingredients mixed together just leave you "smiling" you would never think to marry all those ingredients together in a dip. Kuddos to the cook on that one! The bar area is uniquely designed to give ample attention to both areas of the room, with a few game tables on a separate side and of course can't forget the outdoor seating facing Greenville ave. Stan's is also a great place to go and watch an afternoon game or Olympics for they have enough flatscreens around to keep your attention no matter where you might be sitting. The music box has an array of various different types of music for every age group. On most nights there is standing room only but you will always find a smile on everyone's faces. Stan's is definitely the place to meet your friends for some guaranteed fun, at least in my book it is.
Rik Tatum Salon is absolutely the BEST!!! I moved to Keller in 2006 after living in West Texas for over 20 years. We knew no one. While shopping at the Galleria I saw a girl that had the cutest haircut and phenomenal color. She recommended Rik Tatum Salon. I've been going there for more than 5 years now. We moved to Austin last year and I make a special trip to Dallas once a month just to gave Rik and Heather do my hair. Rik is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. He colors my hair ( but is also great cutting and styling ). Heather, who is Riks wife cuts and styles my hair. She takes special care to make sure everything is perfect before letting you leave. My hair is so shinny and in great condition. They use only the best products!! They are so much fun to be around and are very hip on all the new styles and colors. Whether it's a cold beer or a glass of wine after a long day or a piece of pizza on a Saturday,... The service is always a treat. I will continue to make the 3 hour drive from Austin for them to do my hair !!! It's so worth it. Call ahead and make an appointment. Because they are sooo good they have a lot of customers who LOVE them --- like me!!! They also have the cutest saloon Mascot. Make sure they introduce you to Haskell!!!

The Old War Saw was a nice, quiet, elegant restaurant. It was a perfect setting to take my mother out to eat to show her my appreciation for everything she has done. We started off with the escargot which was served with the most delicious garlic sauce. After the wonderful escargot we had a delightful Caesar salad while we waited for our main entree. During this time the waiter would come and check on us from time to time giving us excellent service. After the salad, came the grilled prime chateaubriand, cooked to perfection, it was definitely one of the best piece of meat me and my mom have ever sunk our teeth into (a must get). Once we were done with our main entree, we debated on getting desert so as the waiter suggested we get the grand marnier soufflé, we did, man was it great! it was as rich as could be and it didn't have a grainy texture which made it just perfect. Overall I gave it a 5 star rating because from when I walked through the door the service was very attentive and the food was just amazing. If ever in the area The Old Warsaw restaurant is a must-go.
I have been to this spa a couple of times and have never had a bad experience. The receptionists have always been friendly and I was always greeted when I walked in the door. I had a gift certificate that had been 3 years expired, and they still honored it for me. I had a 3 hour package which included a facial, massage, and pedicure. The massage was very relaxing and the facial was even better. Their pedicure area is very cute with blue and white porcelain looking bowls. It was a little difficult to get up and down from the pedicure chair, but the pedicure itself was very relaxing. The ambiance in the spa is very relaxing and it has a very light, fresh smell to it. Every now and then while I was getting my pedicure someone would walk by or get on the computer, however they quickly left when they saw me there. They have a very cute little boutique that always has the cutest jewelry and some other fun things. All in all my experience was very nice at this spa. I was very happy with my visit. I would recommend anyone to go here.
I had seen this place but never had an interest in stopping in until I was checking out at the Tom Thumb just a few doors away. A young man named Crockett told me they have the best wings way better than Wingstop when I told him I was on my way to Wingstop to pick up an order. 3 days later for lunch I decided to visit after viewing their website the food looked so good, I was excited to try their food and I wasn't disappointed . I ordered the chicken philly cheesesteak combo that comes with wings , celery sticks, pink lemonade and ranch dressing. I ordered lemon pepper wings. Since they were out of menus I wrote their menu in a notebook I had in my purse. I ordered a side of french fries when I noticed on the menu they wouldn't be part of the combo I ordered. I was totally satisfied and amazed how good the chicken philly cheesesteak was it is to die for. I have a new hot spot not far from work or home that I can visit. I took a pic and posted it on facebook to let friends know of this little gem.
Tucked away on Allen is an amazing hair salon - Salon Baca. The salon exudes contemporary chic and the artists/stylists that work there do not disappoint. I have been going to Craig Michael for years and he is one of the most amazing talents in the business. He cuts your hair like your hair wants to be cut. The magic to a haircut by Craig is that it gets better with time. It is not one of those cuts that looks great when you walk out, but that you can never recreate -- Craig's haircuts look good when you walk out and stay that way. Add to that that Craig is an exceptionally nice guy and fun to work with. While I followed Craig to Salon Baca, I have observed Brian and know he is an outstanding colorist and stylist as well. This is one of the nicest salons around. It is beautifully decorated, easy and convenient to find, and I have never had any trouble parking right our front. I highly recommend this salon to anyone wanting a wonderful haircut and/or color in a spectacular environment.
