My toddler has become a preschooler and is thriving. Caring staff, a little structure (but not too much), and lots of chances for social development make this a perfect place for my girl. The facility gets less than perfect because of the location/traffic.
Kids Play is AMAZING!! They have taken such good care of my 16 month old and made me feel so secure with leaving her for the first time! I couldn't ask for better. Miss Peggy, Sue, Dee Dee, Maria, Sandy... They're all so sweet, caring and dedicated!!
We enrolled our daughter in this school because we recently moved to the area. She had attended another day care in Rhode Island & the teachers here helped make her transition an easy one. The teacher-student ratio is low & they separate the toddlers into 3 smaller groups based on age. Each toddler group has its own separate classroom (so there are not 18 toddlers running around the same room!) in which they can work on age appropriate skills. Our daughter often comes home singing songs & talking about whatever curriculum concept they are learning (weather, shapes etc) They offer parent/child activities (Christmas, Valentine's Day, conferences etc). Each child comes home with a paper that tells about their day & each week we receive a weekly newsletter from the teacher. Their rates are very reasonable. The building itself is older and not great to look at but I like that each age group has is own SEPARATE space within the building. The daycare is located in the back of an industrial building so their outdoor playground does not have grass. But if you were to look past the first appearances, they really do run an excellent child care program.
You should go here only if you don't have any other place with open spots! The facility is quite untidy and shoddy; they have cameras but will not let any parent view what happens inside the classrooms; they are always short staffed; there is always some kid or another crying; the classrooms are dingy; the entrance to the facility is quite gloomy although the new management is trying to fix that....speaking of which, there seems to be some power struggles there and the new director is quite rude. I love the rest of the teachers, but they should really look at who is running the place and how.
As a new mom I was nervous about leaving my baby. However from the first moment I felt at ease. The staff at Dr Day Care are wonderful and my baby is THRIVING because of them!
