Meet Dr. CarpenterÂ Trained as an artist and naturally gifted with exceptional surgical precision, Dr. Carpenter chose to pursue plastic surgery because he saw it as a way to blend his artistic and surgical gifts (â€œPlus,â€ he says, â€œItâ€™s a really cool job.â€ ). While earning his undergraduate degree in Biology at The College of William and Mary, Dr Carpenter published artwork in the Collegeâ€™s art magazine, and had a side business designing and selling T-shirts at the College. Although Joe most appreciates working with skin care patients, he also enjoys helping patients through wound care treatment. Joe also makes additional rounds to the areaâ€™s nine nursing homes treating pressure sores and other wounds for local residents. Liposuction
Liposuction is a technique in which very small incisions and thin metal suction tubes (cannulas) are used to remove the soft fatty tissue from underneath the skin. Breast Reduction
Breast reduction surgery aims to reduce the size of breasts that are too large or cause discomfort. During the procedure, incisions will be made on the breast. The type of incision will depend on your individual anatomy and the amount of breast tissue and skin that needs to be removed. Any incisions made will be created as inconspicuously as possible, and can easily be concealed by undergarments, bathing suits, or clothing. After incisions are made, the nipple will be repositioned, excess breast tissue is reduced, and excess skin is removed. Sutures will hold together any incisions. Results are immediate after breast reduction surgery, though swelling and incision lines will fade with time.
