Provided by CitysearchI have not been to see this vet. However, based on a phone call, my experience was disturbing.
I called on May 26, 2011 and the receptionist was incredibly rude. This is usually an indication of what to expect in most businesses. I had to euthanize my cat of 19 yrs who had cancer and was enquiring as to cost and what drugs they used. She made me hold 5 times on the phone, and each time I tried to speak to tell her what I needed to know, she cut me off and put me on hold.
Finally, when I pressed her she transferred me to the vet Dr Kidwell. He was unbelievably rude and heartless. He said cost was $75 and included only Euthasol, not Propofol which makes them sleep so its painless. I quote, ""Propofol is too costly, and if I had to pay for it, I would not make any money. Take your cat to the Animal Shelter and say you found it on the street and they will do it for less!"".
This unprofessional outburst was the result of merely asking what drugs he used, so I could be assured my cat would have a painless and quick departure I don't need a good bedside manner, but I do need a compassionate person as my vet. I am the only thing that stands between my animal's welfare and callous treatment. It is shocking this vet would say this, but interesting to note that when you do the necessary poking and prodding, all sorts of things get flushed out.
Please avoid this vet. Animals have no voice to tell us what is done to them. If the 'sales' call phase went this poorly, imagine the rest.

Provided by CitysearchI will NEVER, NEVER take my cat there and I recommend that no one else take their beloved pet there. I took my cat for a urinary problem and when I picked him up he was a shell of himself. They tied him up with a rope and trimmed all 10 of his claws to a bloody pulp. He also had a gash in his back paw on the pad that they had glued up. I DID NOT GIVE THEM PERMISSION TO DO THIS!!!! And when I picked him up the Dr. didn't mention anything about all this. The Dr. was UNCARING and the receptionists were both AWFUL. NEVER TAKE YOUR ANIMALS THERE!!!!!

Provided by CitysearchDoctors are amazing. Gebroe is really cool and relaxed guy who gets the job done RIGHT! APPLAUSE!
Now, that receptionist. a. Gives instructions that are not clear b. bad mouths you for asking questions about her unclear instructions. c. when you try to save the conversation by explaining why you are asking questions, conversation catapults into some sort of secretary temper tantrum.

Provided by CitysearchThey are real doctor not an investor !! I really like them how threat my babies (dogs) and how they charge, they said you don't need to use lots of medicine on minor things, if it's not needed. I have known them for 3-4 years never disappointed, never needed to go back if they said DONE. The nurses are so well trained and they know what they are doing. I really like Dr. Dean Gebroe, Dr. Kitwell is okay.
I live in Long Beach and tried 5 hospital local they're not good !! They just want to keep you an office fee and want you to keep coming back just only ear problem they want you to come back next week...good lord !! Yeah - right so they can get you another 50 dollars office fee, huh ?? I think it's worth for me to drive 35 miles to get the best hospital in California.

Provided by Citysearchwish I had read the other reviews before taking our dog to this office. Our experience echoes the complaints of careless doctors, unkind administrative staff, and the inadequacy of the practice's arcane records & billing system. The experience was strange, and ultimately unprofessional. My husband & I have been loving pet owners for years. We've had only positive, successful relationships with vets in the past. This is our first negative veterinarian experience:
We are new to the area, and took our dog to Dr. Gebroe for booster shots, as well as allergy treatment. We were both in the room when all shots were administered. Dr. Gebroe was condescending & rushed, but we overlooked this initially. When checking out, we were told by the impolite, annoyed receptionist that itemized receipts could only be obtained via mail (strange!), and that she was ""in a hurry to get home."" We paid the unexplained total, believing that proof of vaccination and an itemized bill would arrive via post. When this did not happen, we called to clarify, at which time the hostile receptionist informed us that our dog never had vaccinations, and accused us of ""inventing a story."" This was just weird! We assured her that there was no reason to be upset, as we were not--we simply wanted to rectify the confusion. We were thus twice insulted, and twice denied speaking to Dr. Gebroe, so we politely paid a visit in person. The receptionist was comically rude--I've never seen such behavior in a professional setting!--and Gebroe was too busy to bother. He didn't remember us, and shamefully took the opportunity to up-sell other shots & procedures. It was explained that if a procedure ""isn't recorded in the file, it never happened."" We left confused, and ultimately chuckling at the comedy of errors this bumbling, angry ""team"" enacted. (Be especially wary of the raging receptionist!) We are thus seeking a more loving, attentive veterinary home for our animals.
