The City of Covington Police Department works to safeguard the lives and property of residents, businesses and visitors, as well as maintain social law and order. It provides the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program, which is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that provides education to students. The department also administers the Police Activities League (P.A.L.) program, which includes activities to foster positive relationships between the city's youth and the department and servers more than 1,350 children. The City of Covington Police Department works with a team of more than 110 men and women. It is operated by the City of Covington, Ky., which additionally manages fire, finance, parks and recreation and transportation departments.
