Run. . Do not walk.. but run as far from SoutherStates Trucking School as you can get. These ppl are absolute crooks. Their equipment is absolutly horrible. They have one old delapitated late 90's or early 2000's day cab international and its completely worn out. They have horrible trainers. They can't keep a trainer so they are constantly swapping trainers. I've paid those ppl nearly $4200 dollars for nothing. They said it would be a 4 week course. Its been 9 mmonths and my wife still has no license. The students go down there and wait in line for hours and hours for their chance to practice on the one old truck out on the muddy old course with no facilities to use the bathroom. My wife finally ended up learning her pre trip inspection on line. And I taught her on my truck to back and drive and shift gears. All Southern states had to do was schedule her test dates with state trooper office. I thought surely they could do that. But no. They messed that up as well. They Dont know their job. And would not do it if the did know their job. These are horrible horrible sorry sorry ppl. They Dont even know the state laws concerning testing. My wife passed everything fair and square. But because these ppl scheduled the skills testing in Dothan and then sent her to Montgomery for the road test. The state of Alabama will not issue my wife her license. It has to sell be done on none truck in one location. This is Something Southern States absolutely should have known. So we still have no license. My advice to anyone looking for a trucking school . . Dont waste 1 red cent on Southern States Trucking School !!!!
If you are looking for someone to take $5,000.00 of your money while providing you with little to no education I highly suggestion Southern States Trucking. Their trucks are constantly breaking down, they don't care about who they put in their class just as long as you pay. Granted I got my CDL, but I was able to find out all the information I needed online about the written test. I needed a truck to learn on. This wasn't the place to do that as you "take turns" with no priority to any of the students. There is no class schedule. Come and go as you please. There isn't a time period where people start and end the course. Everyone was on different levels with their learning. Just horrible. $5,000.00 wasted! Just a warning. Get your CDL in Montgomery. A real school. Not just people that own trucks.
