Pretty Nails

I've been going here for over 5 years. I'm always very pleased with the staff and services that I received. Make sure to ask for Kim. She is like the Rembrandt in nail design. But, you can't go wrong with whoever does your nail. I highly recommend everyone to check out this nail shop!!!!

I went to this nail saloon as a kid and have continued when I moved back to my home town. The service is truly a hit or miss.. mainly miss. I always tip exremely well but they still rush through the job. One woman even nipped my skin because she was in a hurry and not paying attention. This last month alone, I have been in there every week if not twice a week because my full set is constantly breaking. This past week alone I have been at the saloon three times with broken nails. When I came in for the third time, I wasn't even acknowledged for five to ten minutes even though there were two open nail techs while the third was trying on new boots. DO NOT WAX YOUR EYEBROWS HERE! A woman hacked my eyebrows off a month and a half ago and I'm still growing them back. If you're looking for quality, value, or customer service I do not recommend pretty nails.

This was the absolute worst service I have ever gotten anywhere. Ive been coming here for about a year and I rarely have had a good experience honestly but I kept coming back because it was never "that bad", but this is it for me. The woman doing my nails never even acknowledged me, cut me multiple times with her drill, my nails were too short and when I told her they were too short she got mad at me. Needless to say, I'll be finding a new nail salon that has technicians that actually know how to do nails.

I have been trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I will no longer return. I call and make an appointment for my nails and I arrive with someone already in my place. Then she is doing 2-3 nails at the same time. They are too busy and over booked. The customer service and quality of work keeps going down each time I go. If I call to make an appointment then I expect to have my time respected and to have quality work done. I left this week with my appointment time disregarded, my nails too short, wrong color, and gel polish on my skin.

I have given this place so many chances over the years but now I'm done with them. The owners Victor and Helen used to be awesome people, regular people you know. Then they had some terrible personal traumas happen to BOTH of them and they persevered through those together, always together. Then the day came when their business was all it could be. They were so busy it was insane! I had been there for them through all of it and I considered myself a friend. Boy was I wrong. They changed, Victor and Helen, they changed. First of all their best and most popular manicurist left to open his own salon. On the other side of town! They never recovered from that. Victor was doing my nails under 15 min! Yes, its the truth! They were coralling people in and out like cattle! Just for the money! I couldn't believe it. Everything and everyone in that salon suffered and they haven't recovered yet! I went back a few months ago to try again and it was just ok, not good just ok. They hired a young gal who was alright but nothing awesome. So I missed an appt I had made with Helen and I saw her a few days later . I called and made an appt with Helen over the phone and I was speaking with victor and at end of conversation he said very meanly that I'd better make that appt with helen or else! I couldn't believe it! I told him that I've seen her since then and he needed to mind his own business. I hung up. I got so angry i called him back, canceled my appt and told him him he was lucky I wasn't going to shut him down! But by the looks of how few people he had going in and out of salon he was doing that himself! Money changed them. Its sad because they WERE nice folks, not anymore though. So folks don't waste your time or money at Pretty Nails in cottage grove mn. I go to Woodbury now and they are fantastic folks!

I have been coming to this salon for about a year and a half. There were several times when I felt like the services was sub-par. They tried to use un-sterilized pedicure utensils on me and tried to hide it, and on another occasion they cut my eyebrows way out of wack (even leaving me a small scar). Each time, I felt like they were annoyed that I spoke up about the situation. I was never rude or demanding and just expected good customer service. I did continue to come back to this salon, merely because it is so convenient to my house and I like to give people the benefit of the doubt since I am sure everyone has bad days and sometimes things just happen.



The last incident, however, has discouraged me from coming back. I picked out a color for my "pink and white" tips. It was a soft peach color on the painted mannequin hand. When he pulled out the powder to fill in my nails, the color on the bottle was very hot pink. It didnt match the color on the mannequin at all. We double checked the ID # of the color and it was indeed the same #. He assured me that once it dried it would look like the color I had requested. After finishing 3 nails, it still didnt look the same. The owner came over and said that the mannequin was a "sun faded" version of the real color. I said that they should repaint them so that people know that and can choose which color they would like appropriately. I asked the gentlemen doing my nails to please start over, as I am not interested in having hot pink on my nails. He became very aggitated and stormed out. The owners wife then finished my nails with a regular white since the color I wanted didnt actually exist.



I felt very disrespected, especially since I have been coming to this shop for quite some time. I am quite annoyed that I will have to go further to get my nails done, however, I feel the negative customer service was a major turn off and not something I am willing to continue to subject myself to.

Absolutely awful experience. I normally go to a place in Woodbury but wanted to find a place closer to home. They guaranteed me they could do what I wanted (I have real nails not acrylic). First they cut & filed my nails different lengths on both hands, & the right hand was longer than the left. They had to redo my nails (take off polish & redo) 3 times because they couldn't figure out how to get the lines on the design thinner & they treated me awful because they had to keep redoing them. Then when they figured that out they put on a coat of polish on only half the nails, did the french tips, then PART of the design, then 2 top coats, had me dry them & then put on some more of the design (forgetting to do the last part of the design), & then added another top coat. The polish dried on most of the nails in a wave & then started coming off (too thick). Called & the refused to give me a refund & would only let me come in to have them redone again! Would rate 0 stars if it would let me!!!
