Founded in 1979, Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care is an independent, nonprofit organization that offers end-of-life services in Benton, Linn, Lane, Lincoln and Polk counties in Oregon. It offers caregiver, spiritual and bereavement support services. The facility also provides individual counseling services to community members who are adjusting to death, loss and grief. Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care features a library that includes books and videos. It provides in-service training programs on several topics, such as heart diseases, dementia, cancer, pain management, terminal restlessness and agitation, feeding and swallowing, and signs and symptoms of approaching death. The facility organizes events that include annual picnics and holiday luncheons. Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care employs counseling professionals, physicians, nurses, assistants and facility staff.
