Dental Examination
Your first visit to a our family will include a comprehensive dental exam.Dr. Borth will make a detailed inspection of your teeth and mouth, review X-rays, and go over any problems or issues you’ve been experiencing. He will work with you to develop a specialized treatment plan for oral health.
X-rays
The most common x-ray is a bitewing primarily used to show the upper and lower back teeth in a single view. Bitewing x-rays detect tooth decay, bone loss, gum disease and infection. X-rays offer a broader view of teeth and jaw to check for impacted teeth, bone abnormalities, tumors, and more.
Oral Cancer Screening
Your long-term oral health is our chief priority, and screenings are a part of our action plan. The American Dental Association recommends that a cancer screening be done during regular dental services. Screening is painless and performed by the dentist. The exam is done using a dye or a specialized light to check your mouth for abnormal growths.

Teeth Cleaning
Periodontal treatment methods depend upon the type and severity of the disease. If it is caught in the early stages of gingivitis, and no damage has been done, one to two regular cleanings should take care of it. You will also be given instructions on improving your daily oral hygiene habits and having regular dental cleanings.

Resin Composite
Tooth-colored fillings are made with composite resin that is a combination of plastic and glass materials. When mixed together in the right formula, this soft material can be applied in layers to a tooth and hardened. A special light is used to quickly harden each layer of composite resin, filling the area missing in the tooth. As each layer is added, the filling becomes stronger, while still remaining slightly flexible when pressure is applied.

While crowns come in different materials, the most common crowns typically have some mixture of porcelain in them to give them a look and feel similar to a natural tooth.

Dental Bonding

Periodontal Surgery
If the pockets do not heal after scaling and root planing, periodontal surgery may be needed to reduce pocket depths, making teeth easier to clean.
Deep Cleaning
If the disease has progressed to more advanced stages, a special periodontal deep cleaning needs to take place. It is usually done one quadrant of the mouth at a time while the area is numb. Tartar, plaque and toxins are removed from above and below the gum line (scaling) and rough spots on root surfaces are made smooth (planing) helping gum tissue heal and pockets shrink. Medications, medicated mouth rinses, and an electric tooth brush may be recommended to help control infection and healing.
