Lassen Steak House

came here about 3 yrs ago, had great food and service. was excited to come back but was immediately disappointed from the moment we walked through the door. we were not greeted and waited awkwardly at the front door to be seated or even acknowledged. when someone finally did notice us, we were told to choose our own seats. the only clean table for 4 was sandwiched between 2 other tables with little breathing room or arm space. we were handed what looked like their take-home menus, small paper tri-folds with vague descriptions. waited almost an hour for our food, then had to wait longer for an order of fries that did not come out on the plate. 2 of us ordered hamburgers but the cooks confused them with each other and we ended up with horribly mismatched cold burgers that could not have been more ruined. the fish and chips were nowhere near worth the price, neither was the french dip. service was awful. no hellos, no smiles, and no apologies for wrong orders. we were surprised to see that our bill was compensated $10. we did not vocalize our complaints to anyone. however, the $10 comp will not keep us from staying far far away from this restaurant.

Full parking lot, a good sign...Only 5 minutes to be seated (that's where it went down hill) server took drink order, another server took order about 15min later. Manager I think came and apologized for how slow the kitchen was, but did not give name. 30min for nachos that were ok. Meals were ok, overpriced for what we got. we had no flat ware, my son asked for a fork, he received one, I got my own. We had no salad or bread, server blamed other server,and "took it off the bill" that had no adjustment. Calamari was in beer batter an inch thick, after peeling was ok. Steak was nothing wonderful, and pasta had good flavor. If you drink, and don't mind lousy service this is for you, otherwise Basque Norte is just a little further down the road, and worth the price at $10+ more per person. Won't make this mistake again. What can they do to improve, start at the top, clean house, and hire people who care if they have jobs.
