Business Description
In 1942 Socony Vacuum of New Jersey sold the petroleum bulk plant located on Linden Ave in Cooperstown to William L. and Grace Taylor. With this sale, W.L. Taylor and Son was founded and remains the oldest operating Home Heating Company in the area today. Their son Robert W. Taylor joined the family business in 1954 and assumed all responsibility in 1971. In 1979, Robert opened the first convenience store in Richfield Springs and then went on to open 5 more convenience stores throughout the years. In 1992 upon Robert's death, his wife Carol and son Christopher Taylor assumed all responsibilities for the family business. Upon Carol Taylor's retirement, Christopher Taylor assumed ownership and continues to run the business with the same traditions and values that have been in his family for three generations.

The Best

Some companies want to "Do less and make more", this company prefers to "earn" their income. Never have I seen a fuel-oil company that offers the best of both worlds. Low Prices, courteous service, on time delivery, and competent staff.

WL Taylor & Son has been in business for a long time. Offering not only home heating service, but also supplying full service gas stations - which is a dying breed.

Calling their main office to speak the the Owners (Chris Taylor and Andrea Baker) will usually get you a reply of "I'm sorry, (s)he is not in the office". Thats not because they are out playing golf, THEY are working!! I have seen first hand both Chris and Andrea pumping fuel at a station. I have also witnessed Chris may times repairing pumps and delivering fuel to the stations and homes. On top of this, Leaving a message for one of them is NOT futile. If you ask to speak to Chris and he is not available, He WILL return your call.

This has to be one of the most Customer Friendly Companies around. I personally buy my home heating oil from them as well as my gasoline. While their prices "at the pump" may be a couple of cent higher than other companies, this point is greatly negated by the competent and courteous service provided AND they pump it for you. Also, I have NEVER had a problem with poor performance due to the fuel they supply or water in their fuel.

Do yourself a favor and give this company your patronage, you won't regret it.
