        About Search Results

YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

          Tips & Advice

What are the benefits of a nursing home compared to home care?

A nursing home provides certain benefits compared to home care. At a nursing home, individuals have 24-hour access to care from a wide range of medical professionals and specialists, and this can be essential for those who are dealing with critical health conditions. Home care usually involves just one professional working up to eight hours a day. Also, a nursing home provides a more social atmosphere, and it creates an environment in which those needing care can interact with their peers. Individuals receiving home care are more isolated, and this can sometimes lead to depression.

Is a nursing home more expensive than home care?

A nursing home is typically more expensive than home care. Staying in a nursing home can cost $220 per day or more. Hiring a home care aide can cost roughly $20 per hour, and that means for a full eight hours of care, you'll pay $160 per day. Home care offers the benefit of allowing seniors to remain in familiar surroundings, but a nursing home is perhaps the simplest way for a senior to get round-the-clock access to medical-grade nursing care.

How do you determine if an elderly person is a good candidate for a nursing home

An elderly person is a good candidate for a nursing home if:

          • They need more care and medical attention than family members are able to provide.
          • They're not mobile, and have difficulty transferring from a bed or wheelchair.
          • They're unable to handle daily tasks such as tidying the house and bringing in the mail, and have begun missing regular appointments.
          • They're having difficulties with meal preparation, and show signs of having missed meals.
          • They're having difficulties with personal hygiene, and have a hard time with activities such as bathing, toileting and brushing their teeth.
          • They've begun falling on a frequent basis, and show symptoms such as fractures or bruises.
          • They need regular and frequent care from a professional such as a social worker or a physical therapist.

What is the difference between skilled nursing and assisted living?

There are certain key differences between skilled nursing and assisted living. With skilled nursing, care is provided by a trained professional, such as a nurse. Skilled nursing care is available in a wide assortment of settings, and it may be provided for those living at home, in nursing homes (which are also known as skilled nursing facilities), or in assisted living facilities. With assisted living, individuals primarily receive support with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and eating. This support is provided in a residence known as an assisted living facility Programs there are available that provide light assistance with things like laundry and errands, and individuals can also choose plans that provide more intensive care. In general, an assisted living facility provides individuals with a greater level of independence than they'd typically get in a nursing home.

          What is skilled nursing?

Skilled nursing is a type of care offered to seniors and those living with disabilities or injuries. This type of care is provided by a trained professional, such as a registered nurse or a physical therapist. Skilled nursing care may be required as a short-term measure for those recovering from injury, and it may be needed on a long-term basis by those who suffer from chronic medical conditions.

Does Medicaid cover nursing home costs?

Medicaid will assist with the cost of staying in a nursing home under certain circumstances. To qualify for assistance from Medicaid, an individual has to prove that this care is medically necessary, and different states have different requirements for meeting this standard. An individual must also be financially eligible, and eligibility requirements vary from state to state. In many states, you must have no more than $2,000 in cash or cash equivalents to qualify for Medicaid. If your assets make you ineligible for Medicaid, you may qualify for the program once you've spent enough of your assets to meet eligibility requirements.

How much do nursing homes cost?

The cost of staying in a nursing home varies from city to city, but the average cost nationwide for a private room runs about $250 daily. The average cost for staying in a semi-private room is approximately $220. On average, those who stay in nursing homes remain there for about two years.

Do emergency care facilities treat infants and children?

Emergency care facilities can treat infants and children. Roughly 16 percent of emergency patients are infants and children, so the medical professionals at these facilities typically have strong experience in pediatric emergency care.

How long is the average wait at an emergency care facility?

The average wait time will depend on the type of emergency care facility.. Wait times typically average less than 20 minutes at an urgent care facility. At a hospital-based emergency care facility that treats life-threatening conditions, wait times can take as long as an hour or more.

Are emergency care facilities required to be board certified?

Board certification is not required for emergency care facilities. However, the top facilities are often board certified. At hospitals, many emergency care centers require that their physicians be board certified as a qualification for employment. Two boards that handle this type of certification are the American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine.

It was Christmas eve and these fine folks were working so people like me would have health care at a time when everyone else was closed. I had read the reviews posted and had reservations about going there but after arriving I found the most professional, and courteous people you could ask for. I cant speak for the cases posted prior I wasn't there, but after 33 years of public service I can say you are usually treated like you treat others. In my case all I can say is great job Fast Pace Urgent Care of Algood.

I went to them and at first they were really nic. Then after they gave me like 8 months of shots that didn't work but were mandatory so they can get as much as they wanted from the insurance company, I told them I did not want anymore and they didn't help. Then had to get a procedure. Then another, which made my pain worse, so I was not a candidate, and told them no on the third procedure. I feel they never listened to me and only wanted my insurance money. Please do not go there. Go to Nashville Pain Clinic if possible.

Some people must think that a doctor is supposed to be able to just fix whatever is causing their pain. If the world were perfect then we wouldn't have pain to begin with. Pain management means having your pain managed and usually that involves pain medication. I personally don't care what it is as long as it helps me live with whatever pain I may have.
