All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
Recently moved to Conway and had been looking for some place to get some work done to my Truck. My Wife recommended All Star as she had some work there in the past. When we arrived they were painting and refurbishing the waiting area. Come to find out that the business had recently changed hands and spoke to the new owner RJ. I found him to be very knowledgeable, down to earth and someone I felt I could trust. Was I ever correct! After working on my Truck and taking it for a test drive he soon realized there were other issues that concerned him that were not in the initial quote. Were most places would have told you of the new issues and wanted to charge more to make these "new" problems. RJ took the responsibility of not only making these repairs for no additional charge. But had actually contacted a Car Rental Agency to provide me with a loaner, and his expense! To say that this surprised me would be an understatement. After I picked up my Truck I contacted RJ concerning a sound I was hearing. He explained what he felt he believed the sound to be and suggested I come by the Shop. After returning from out of town RJ discovered the source of the noise and made those repairs. Once again at no additional charge!! He had told me all along that he wanted to know that when he was done that he would want my Truck to be in as good a condition as if it were his own. I know I've rambled. But I simply not say enough positive things about the Service I received from RJ and his Staff. If you are fortunate enough to live close to Conway and need Service on your Vehicle. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to see RJ.
Caldwell Toyota Scion is the best and will treat you right! My wife and I just bought a vehicle from this dealership and they were Awesome! On top of the really nice Dealership, with complimentary snacks, kids playroom, they are a Green Business. The Salesman and Finance Team are smart, experienced, fair, and down to earth folks. This was truly an enjoyable experience to purchase a vehicle. Chip Hunley was our salesman and he was Great, he was especially helpful in helping my wife find what vehicle she wanted and would need as we have a baby on the way. I have been trying to get her to decide on a vehicle for the last year and Chip helped her weigh her choices and had a vehicle picked in 30min. We could tell that he really cared and was a Dad and Grandfather himself, on top of knowing anything and everything about each vehicle, the dealership, and Toyota. He told us about the Caldwell Cares program which offers free loaner, shuttle, and oil changes for cost, which we couldnt believe was free and even helped us setup a complimentary detail and service visit within 30 days of our purchase. They will even drop you off at shopping mall while your vehicle is getting serviced and pick you up after, now that is cool. Jonathan Webber was also great at laying out our warranty options and made the process simple. J Caldwell and his team truly know how to Treat Customers right. Without a Doubt, Caldwell is where I will send my family and kids to buy a vehicle!

My daughter is a single mom. She brought her car here after having gone to a shop on Cantrell in Little Rock.In Little Rock they had told her she had a power steering leak. They did a power steering flush, and put in what they called "a stop leak" for her transmission. Her leak was worse after the work they had done there, and they told her it would cost between $300 and $900 to fix the problem, AFTER they charged her $119 for the flush and "make leak" instead of "stop leak." She came to All Star, which has recently changed hands, and they found the problem in a few minutes. An "O ring" was bad. It cost $6.32 for the part, and $30.00 for labor. Now the car drives great and NO LEAK! PLUS, they steam cleaned her engine after they got finished, at no charge. As a single mom, she needs someone who will not take advantage of her, and she has found them! I will never go anywhere else, and I highly recommend these guys to everyone. They are honest, and they KNOW what they are doing!!

This has been the best automotive shop that I have ever been to in my entire life. I went here yesterday because of an oil leak and all of the technicians were very courteous and they illustrated a wealth of knowledge. I am a 24 year old woman and I am illeterate when it comes to carsThe technicians had explained everything in way that made it easy for me to understand and they set an expectation to let me know how soon I had until I needed to come back to get my tire replaced. The entire staff was friendly and it was a blessing just to be able to come to a place like this in Conway right up the street from my home that could help me out the way that these people were able to help. I would recommend this shop to anyone that needs a repair on their car. You will walk with a peace of mind knowing that everything is taken care of and everything will be ok. I tip my hat to these good people and I thank them so very much for all of their time and help
Push on the gas; it goes, push on the brake; it stops... That's about all i know about automobiles. I took my truck to Conway Automotive (Tuesday) running poorly with all kinds of lights lit up on my dashboard. Left my keys and away I went. Got a call shortly thereafter explaining the problems, the repairs, approximate costs and about how long repairs should take. I'm no mechanic and terms like "approximate" and "about how long" really worry me. In my head I just doubled the price and added two days to the repair time and figured I'd be close. Being Pleasantly Surprised, I picked up my truck on Wednesday afternoon (the next day) and the bill was exactly what I was told it would be. Fortunately I've had no more problems with my truck, but if I ever do, you can bet I'll return to Conway Automotive. Thanks Guys, Mike from Little Rock
I was really in trouble when my Town and Country van decided to run a while then quit. No pattern for its failure, It would run days or weeks then all of a sudden would not go. These guys stuck with this intermittent problem and found the cure was an intermittent soft failure in the ecm. Engine control module. As an electrical engineer that has worked over 40 years in industry, I can't say enough about how difficult a ghost problem can be. The mechanics at Maces stayed the course methodically checking off each potential failure point until the beast rared its ugly head at the right moment. The bottom line is that my van is fixed only due to the dedication of these guys to find the real cause and fix it. Thanks. In a time when so many people could care less about the customer, it is really wonderful to find those that really do put the customer first.
We have used Best Auto and Tire for many years for oil changes, new tires and minor and major car repairs. They have always been very nice and honest. Yesterday I was having trouble starting my car so I went by O'reily's while I was out. They tested my battery and alternator and told me I need a new alternator. For a second option I stopped by Best Auto and Tire. They thought it was the alternator but told me to come back by today when they had more time to check it out. They cleaned off the battery cables really good and that did the trick. They didn't charge me and said that they never want to put in a new part without being certain that it's needed. I'm very thankful for their honesty and would definitely recommend them.
I am currently out of town and was not able to be there in person. The woman I call my other mother needed tires so I called to the Sure Stop Brake Shop and got through to Sam. He was kind, considerate, and talked me through everything. I told him how important it was to me that this lady who is dear to me have good tires and he understood. I could not be more thankful that I was able to get a hold of him and this place. I do not live in Arkansas but if I am there and I need tires I am for sure going there. The service I got over the phone was excellent so I know the service I get in person would be phenomenal. Thank you Sam and Thank You Sure Stop.
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
