Overall
Waste of time and money

I had an appt with a doctor at NE Orthopedic because I had injured my foot about 3 weeks earlier. I went to the ER the day after the accident (a horse stepped on my foot) and they took an x-ray. With the amount of swelling, no breaks or fractures showed up. On a visit to my family doctor, she suggested another x-ray since some of the swelling had gone down.
When the orthopedic doctor came in, he immediately said it wasn't broken according to the x-rays from the ER. He then proceeded to lecture me about smoking and how my foot would heal if I quit. He never x-rayed the foot, in fact didn't even touch my foot, he had me try to move my toes (which I still can't). I left $40.00 poorer and with a boot to wear. It is still difficult to move my last two toes and the pain can be terrible at times. I had a stress fracture in the same area about 20 years ago so what are the changes of having it fracture again??!
This doctor had extremely poor 'bedside' manners. The last comment he made before he left the room, was ""go to Google and search for smoking and healing, you'll find tons of articles.""
I know what the risks are with smoking - duh, I'm an adult, but I was there to find out what was causing the pain in my foot, which he didn't do.
My suggestion is, if you have an injured foot in the Cabarrus County area...do not go to this doctor. The clinic is fine, but this doctor shouldn't even be practicing.
