Overall
Service

Rated at one star because the rating system doesn't allow anything lower. I hired Guru services, also known as Chimney Gurus, to repair a leak in my chimney that was allowing water to leak into my home. Jamie Simpson, from Chimney Gurus inspected the chimney and stated that it needed a new chase (top cover) and bird guard. The cost quoted was $940. Jamie required 50% of the cost up front to order the parts. After installing the parts the chimney leak was worse that before he worked on it. He returned to the house a second time. He told me that he "resealed everything" and the leak was fixed. It wasn't. Water not only continued to leak into the house but into the fireplace as well. After attempting to contact the company for two weeks by phone and email with no response, I gave up and hired another company to fix the problem. The second company inspected the chimney and found that the flue pipe had not been sealed to the chase, and the chase was bent in the center allowing water to pour into the chimney every time it rained. In addition, the chase was improperly installed and the flue pipe had been shortened too much allowing water to enter between the flue and the cap. It all had to be redone. Do not hire Chimney Gurus! They do shoddy work and then do not return phone calls when you try to reach them to warranty their defective work.
