I really needed a burger the other day and my wife really wanted to eat healthy. We went to Northstar on N High St and GOD was their burger good. It was cooked perfect ... nice and pink. I'd have to say, one of the best burgers I've had in a long time.

All organic, all good

I've never had a dish I didn't like here. I am a vegetarian and there are multiple dishes available for me and some that can be substituted with tofu. There is still plenty of food for meat eaters as well and everything on the menu is organic. Sometimes the counter order/table setup is a little awkward when the restaurant is crowded (people will ""jump line"" to grab a table.) On the plus side, I guess as a result of this minimal table service arrangement, they don't expect you to tip. I've never had a bad experience with service.

Some of my favorites: sweet potato hash (brunch menu), tuscan bread soup (alas, a daily special not always featured), the veggie burger (one of the best anywhere), the Buddha bowl, the pesto wrap, ginger ale, and at the Clintonville location, the Beechwold salad. Good craft beer selection too.

We are regulars at Northstar Cafe at Easton Town Center. We love how fresh everything on the menu is. Its great to be able to walk in, order, and receive your food in 15 min or so and know that it is sourced locally. Service at the Easton Location always exceeds all of my expectations. I have tried everything on the menu and would honestly recommend it all!

Poor service

The food was delicious! I'll give them that. This was my first and only visit to Northstar Cafe and I will never set foot in there again after the way my friend and I were treated by the lady who brought our food out. We sat down to a later dinner and after ordering, we took a seat, and put the table number on the edge of the table. Neither my friend nor I noticed the number clip on the napkin and silverware holder. When our food finally came out, the first thing the lady said was that she had been looking all over for us and even had to go outside since our table number wasn't up. No one was outside first of all, and we were the only people in there without food and the only ones who had recently ordered. Then she proceeded to physically show us how to put the number in the clip. Classy, I think not! Rude, yes! I shrugged my shoulders and said, thank you, and we felt like scolded school children. I asked for some extra mustard before she walked away and she said, ""It's on the sandwich, both sides"" and almost touched my meal to show me. I said thank you again and said I'd still like the mustard. I had no idea it was so awful of us to say thank you and please when being served. I did speak to the manager who was wonderfully kind to make sure we didn't leave unhappy but that wasn't her fault nor could she correct how we had been treated. She offered gift certificates but I declined. I just hope the server gets a lesson in manners and serving etiquette.

Pretty Good Food.

Northstar offers a good selection of fresh and tasty food at short North and on N High, near the corner with Henderson:

Their flatbread is wonderful: like a Pizza Margherita you can have 'to go' at one of the little stands in the streets of Napoli.

The rice bowls are not bad, unfortunately the cook is usually too reluctant with spices.

Their pancakes and other brunch options are well done.

Overall, this place seems too fancy, the ambiente too sterile; but the food is worth going for.

Can't say anything negative about this place. GREAT food, fast. Even when the lines are out the door, people are polite, friendly and the staff are professional. There's always a positive vibe. In spite of it's popularity, people are never rushed in and rushed out, the food, though filling, is just right portion-wise. There really is no place like it. I've never left this place feeling anything but good and I've been there atleast 100 times.

Pleasant suprise

I was bored of Panera, and found Northstar just down the road. Plenty of parking, stylish interior, great food. I popped in for a late lunch and found the chop salad and soup very filing. It appears to be vegan friendly, and seems pricer than most restaurants in the fast-casual catagory.

I will come back again, and recommend this to anyone looked for a pleasant lunch atmosphere and generous portions.

great brunch!

I recently moved to Columbus from Boston and was afraid that one of the things that I'd miss most would be the independently-owned delis and cafes that had quick, delicious, yet affordable eats. Northstar Cafe has surpassed my initial expectations. We went there on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. The breakfast burrito was excellent and unique, made with eggs, sweet potatoes, black beans, peppers, and onions. And the iced coffee is definitely the best I've had in Columbus so far. Subsequently, this great place also has a purpose: to bring customers fresh, local, organic ingredients, and free-trade coffee. It's the best of both worlds.

Great Fresh Food

This restaurant has excellent food and service. The pancakes, cookies, and veggie burger are worth the trip.

Worth the wait!

There is always a line on weekends, but it moves fast and is so worth it. I love their veggie burger, full of black beans and rice with a great salad on the side - even die hard carnivores like it. They have great kids meals and fresh baked cookies.

Tasty food, casual atmosphere, nice windows.

Northstar has a very relaxed, casual atmosphere and the full windows in the store front provide the sense of immersion in the heart of the Short North. I've never eaten on the patio, but given the right weather, it seems attractive. One of the menu's strengths is its simplicity while being able to accomodate a variety of tastes (for vegetarians and carnivores alike).

Orders are taken at the counter. The sweet BBQ burrito is amazing and wholeheartedly recommend the meatloaf and veggie burger (Northstar Burger) too. I always get one of the giant homemade cookies for dessert - the peanut butter ones are the best.

Northstar can get crowded, so as you approach, look to see if there is a line and if so, you might want to alter your plans because the line is not particularily fast-moving.

The food is great - price is very reasonable - (service isn't really an issue) - and the atmosphere is perfect for relaxing with friends. While I would not classify it as a ""romantic restaurant,"" I do think it is a nice alternative and a good place to take a date (especially if dinner is a foray into other activities later in the evening). I strongly recommend this joint.
