At the beginning of the term at CSCC, I was excited to have Royce Carpenter for a class because she was a featured sign language instructor on the school's website. However, my rosy outlook didn't last because of Royce's ineffective teaching and attitude.
Royce is a strict instructor and creates an unpleasant learning environment. She is impatient, discouraging and unfair. She doesn't have the ability to effectively teach. She give tests that include info she hasn't taught. She'd go over info only once and then you'll never hear about it again. It's frustrating to say the least.
I had a few meetings with Royce about my concerns. She had an attitude during our discussion. So, I decided to contact the dept. head with an e-mail regarding Royce. The scathing e-mail was forwarded to Royce and everything went downhill from there. I've endured sly remarks and the cold-shoulder. The tension was thick. Her style of teaching and attitude is off-putting and not worth the hassle.
