The Fire Prevention Bureau consists of the office of community relations, hydrant coordinator, and fire investigation and inspection sections. It offers a variety of fire safety education for public. The bureau specializes in the enforcement of the fire prevention codes. The Fire Prevention Bureau reviews plat and building plans for new construction and performs acceptance inspections for new fire protection equipment. It provides investigation services for suspicious large loss and incendiary fires fire deaths. The bureau maintains fire inspection and investigation reports. The Fire Prevention Bureau s inspections section is responsible for providing fire prevention inspection programs and enforces the Fire Prevention Code. It is a part the Division of Fire, which is governed by the City of Columbus.
