So, first of all, these guys were really friendly. For a buy here pay here car lot they really treat a person with respect. My credit is not the best and most places either shoo you out or try to put you into a clunker that you don't want at all. This place had about a hundred cars and I don't think one of them was older than a 2004. They have 2009 impala's chargers, 300's, and a bunch of BMW's and Benz's. I had about 500 bucks and I was able to get a ""layaway"" on a sweet 2002 tahoe. In about 3 weeks I was rollin'. Everytime I come in everyone remembers my name and I had a little problem with the sensor and the windshield washer motor and they actually helped me get it fixed. Thanks so much to Cars East's team and the owners! I really recommend to anyone who needs a car to check this lot out. Its not like any other place I've ever been.

I'll be as fair as possible about this review as I can, however it's not a pretty one. My finance and I recently stopped into Cars East after driving by and seeing a bevy of attractive, late model cars on their lot. We visited their lot twice. The first time, we were greeted by ""Jim"" (who ""helped"" us through the whole process).
The lot features around 150 or so late model sued cars. They have everything from Mercedes and Porches, to Impalas and Trail Blazers. This is the only positive aspect I can state in this review: LOTS of NICE cars. But the buck stops there... Or does it?
Anyhow, upon discussing with ""Jim"" about our finances, affordability and what we were looking for in a vehicle. The subject of financing came up. I specifically asked ""Jim"" if Cars East was ""Interest free Buy-Here-Pay-Here"". He stated that they have lots of financing options but that they are totally interest free and that anything on the lot could be purchased ""in house"", meaning Buy-Here-Pay-Here. I responded by telling ""Jim"" that I was pleased with this because I (and I quote) ""wasn't interested in paying any interest"".
His immediate response was that ""Only the featured vehicles on the racks are financed and have interest"".
Long story short, he lied. Flat out.
We test drove about 5 vehicles during our two trips there (We live 30 miles from Columbus mind you) and finally settled on going to the table to get a Kia SUV that we really liked. It was $10,995/90 per week/84 bi-weekly payments. Sounded good at this point.
When sitting at the table, ""Jim"" immediately slid over an agreement sheet for me to sign and I hesitated. Once more, I asked him ""Now this is buy-here-pay-here, no interest financing right?"". ""Jim"" responded, ""Oh no there is interest! It's set at 24% for all of our customers"". I stood up from my chair. When I expressed my displeasure about the interest ""Jim"" and his boss (owner Ron) tried a few tactics to keep us from leaving the office.
Ron immediately said that he would knock $1,500 off the total price if we purchase making it $9,500. I declined. ""Jim"" typed a dew things up on his computer and showed me the screen. He said ""No worries, all of the interest is already figured into your b-weekly payments. It's still comes out to all be the same"".
I noticed on ""Jims"" screen that is said ""AMOUNT FINANCED: $10,995. I said to him: ""If the amount financed is $10K+, then what is the total amount I am paying after interest""?
""Jim"" took a long pause, looked at Ron and grabbed is calculator. He typed some stuff and started to slide it over to me but retracted. I never got to see the calculator but he said that I would pay $4,800 and some change (over the total price) in interest. This made the actual price I was paying for a ""Buy-Here-Pay-Here"" ""Interest Free"" 2006 model Kia, $15,000 and some change!!
My fiance looked at me and said ""I read about this on the internet!"", meaning that she had already looked up Cars East on Yahoo! reviews and read about the misleading sales tactics the employ. Needless to say, we walked out without a vehicle and disappointed we were lied to. At least we weren't ignorant enough to actually sign for a vehicle from them without double checking the numbers.
Cars East has LOADS of nice, late model vehicles but they are very misleading about their financing. They are NOT ( I repeat NOT) Buy-Here-Pay-Here. They do their own ""In-House (No bank) financing at an outrageous interest rate 24%. They will NOT tell you about it unless you dig deep for information. Do NOT buy a vehicle from them unless you understand this! They are NOT Buy-Here-Pay-Here!! Should I say it again?
Pros: Nice rides and a lot of them. Oh and they really don't run your credit (no credit check). They will finance a chimpanzee if the chimp is willing to pay 24% interest. You'll pay $15,000 for a $8000 Blue Book rated vehicle.
