Overall

Gregor scrubbed himself down using a sponge and Ml some gloopy stuff he found in a bowl by the pool. He lathered his hair and even cleaned inside his ears wanting to get every bit of Overlander smell off him. If he was going to try to escape, he needed to be as indistinguishable from his hosts as possible.

On hooks by the pool hung a row of white towels. Gregor couldn't identify the thick woven fabric. "Sure not cotton," he muttered, but the towel was soft and absorbed water much better than the thin, worn ones they used at home.

He walked back into the changing room drying his hair and found his clothes had disappeared. In their place was a neat pile of smoky blue garments. A shirt, pants, and what seemed to be underwear. They were much finer than the towels -- the cloth ran silkily through his fingers. "What is this stuff?" he wondered, slipping into the shirt.

He slid his feet into a pair of braided straw sandals and padded out of the changing room. Mareth and Perdita were waiting.

"So, what happened to my clothes?" asked Gregor.

"They have been burned," said Mareth apprehensively. Gregor sensed Mareth was afraid he'd be mad.

"It is most dangerous to keep them," said Perdita, by way of explanation. "The ash carries no scent."

Gregor shrugged to show he didn't care. "That's cool," he said. "These fit me fine."

Mareth and Perdita looked grateful. "After a few days of our food, you will be without much odor, too," said Perdita encouragingly.

"That'll be nice," said Gregor dryly. These Underlanders were sure obsessed with his smell.

Dulcet emerged from the left side of the bathroom carrying a squeaky clean Boots. She had on a soft, rose-colored shirt, and a clean diaper made from the same material as Gregor's bath towel. She extended her leg and pointed proudly to the new sandal on her foot. "San-da," she said to Gregor.

He stuck out his foot to show her his shoes. "Me, too," he said. He assumed they'd burned Boots's clothes, as well. He tried to remember what she'd been wearing in case he had to explain the missing stuff to his mom. One dirty diaper, no loss. One pair of scuffed pink sandals her feet were growing out of, anyway. One stained T-shirt. It would probably be okay.

Gregor didn't know exactly what he would tell his mom about the Underland. The truth would scare her to death. He'd work out something when they got back to the laundry room, but the sooner that happened, the simpler the story could be.

Boots reached out her arms and Gregor took her, pressing his nose into her damp curls. She smelled fresh and a bit like the ocean.

"She is well grown," said Dulcet. "Your arms must be tired." She went back into the changing room and came out with some kind of pack. It fitted on his back with straps, and Boots could ride in it looking over his shoulder. He had seen people carrying kids in specially designed backpacks, but his family didn't have money for that sort of stuff.

"Thanks," he said casually, but he was secretly elated. It would be a lot easier to escape with Boots in a backpack than in his arms.

Dulcet led them up several staircases and through a maze of halls. They eventually wound up in a long room that opened out on to a balcony.

"We call this the High Hall," said Dulcet.

"I think you guys forgot the roof," said Gregor. While the walls were decorated with the greatest care, there was nothing but the black cavern above their heads.

Dulcet laughed. "Oh, no, it is meant to be so. We entertain here often, and many bats can arrive at once." Gregor imagined the bottleneck a hundred bats would cause trying to get in the door downstairs. He could see the advantage of a bigger landing strip.

Food in theater

Anyone can take food into the Easton theater as long as you buy the food in Easton. There is a problem with all the kids, but it's not disruptive...kids/young people are going to be everywhere, not just Easton on the weekends.

Citysearch overview is outdated but theatre is still worth a visit.

This theatre is huge, plenty of seating and showtime choices. However, the citysearch overview is outdated. This AMC theatre is no longer part of planet movies. The ""nostalgia alley"" does not exist anymore and the additional concessions are never open when I visit, during the day. I can't say if they open at night. I'd call if that is what interests you.
The theatre is also showing it's years and needs some updates. The carpet smells musty and needs to be cleaned. The seats are showing their dirt and stains. I think cleaning these items would make the theatre seem new again. However, these are the only drawbacks. Every seat's arm rests lift up. During the day, it is rarely crowded so this means that you can stretch out like on a couch at home. There are rarely projection problems. The single time that I experienced a problem, I was given twice as many free passes as I had purchased for that day's showing, in addition to geting to see the movie that day. A clear bonus that saved my business. Also durng the day, there are friendly ticket takers and concessions workers. Still, get there early, the concession line can take a bit of time. Pre-shows start early, so you'll be enteretained if you have to wait. There are also plenty of very clean restrooms that are just steps away from every screen.
Overall, this theater is my favorite in Columbus, easily beating out the more crowded and less courteous theatre in my neighborhood. I would love to see the carpet and chairs cleaned to make Easton a five star choice again. There is also plenty of free parking in garages just steps away.

My Favorite Theater Experience

When I was visiting family in Columbus, my fiance and I stopped at the AMC in the shopping center. Before the movie, we went to the Cheesecake Factory and purchased a few slices of cheesecake to go. We then bought a beverage from AMC and went to sit in our theater. We sat in the back, and the chairs were huge. It was amazing. There we were, sitting in lazy boy chairs, eating cheesecake and watching a great movie. Any movie theater that allows Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory gets an A+ in my book.

Expensive

Pricey, bad projection, and the movie is sold out? This is the worst example of big chain mentality in columbus. The high prices and crowds are good for AMC, not you. The only redeeming quality is that 30 screens equals variety. But with multiple screens showing the same blockbusters combined with the lower profitability of indie films, this 30-screener is rarely showing more films than the nearby Movies 16. And that theater has lower prices, better film quality, and a liberal food smuggling policy.

Circling the drain . . .

AMC Easton Town Center 30 was a great place to see a movie. Now it is deteriorating. This theatre is always busy so it must be making some profits. It is time for money to be reinvested in the maintenance and refurbishing of the theatres. The floors and seats are dirty. Some of this just needs cleaning and some items need to be replaced. The selection of films is average--standard multiplex fare. The location is terrific with lots of restaurants, parking, shopping, and entertainment close by. It's a shame not to put some money back in this cash cow.

movie of the year

Chicago is probably the best movie musical I've ever seen! It totally rocks! Every actor in this movie deserves a big fat award for their work. One and only criticism: why abandon Bob Fosse's choreography? The only way this musical could've been better is if the choreography had remained true to the Fosse legend.

couple comfort

The impresion of a movie can be made better or worse by how comfortable you are seated. The fact that the arm rests at Easton lift up gives you not only a roomy seat, but also the ability to cuddly with the one you are with. This always makes a good movie even better.
