it is unquestionable that these apartments are some of the most cost-friendly in the Columbia area, but you do get what you pay for. I would encourage any potential renter to view the apartment you will be staying in yourself. I can only speak for my individual apartment, but the walls and ceilings are poorly done and painted; and it shows when you take a closer look. My biggest concern about this residence is the safety. In less than four months of living at the Hollows, we have had a doormat stolen as well as a car stolen from a parking spot directly in front of our apartment. For the price you pay here, it is likely worth it, but looking back, I wish we would have looked for a complex with an actual gate that locks or even some kind of video footage at the least. It is tough living in a place where you do not feel safe.
Had to move there were bats getting into the apartment, and management wouldn't do anything. Had to pay $150 for wildlife to catch them, and move our family to a hotel. Wild life never found the bats but 1 turned up in my kids laundry hamper. I don't recommend this apartment complex to anyone. And maintenance stinks.
This is the best place ever.
DO NOT MOVE TO THIS GHETTO!! The apartments are infested with roaches and spiders. There is water damage, the doors are missing weather stripping, the appliances are GARBAGE, that stink and only half work. The apartments are old and outdated and nasty. The grounds are filthy, especially on the weekends, with trash and dog crap and used condoms in the grassy areas. The pool is tiny and DISGUSTING! We haven't really had mailboxes in over a month, forcing residents to drive to the post office and stand in the ridiculous line to pick up mail. The neighborhood and general area are TERRIBLE! I'm approached, weekly, by drug dealers and crack heads. The police are always around, idiots shoot guns at night, my car has been broken into three times, and hit twice. People knock on my door at 2 and 3 am, and drunk neighbors fight and scream all through the night. The apartment manager, Ashley, is worthless. She sits on her fat a**, all day, ignoring residents that come in the office. The staff never answers the phone, but when you walk in, they're just sitting around talking to each other. This is THE WORST PLACE I have ever lived. I cannot WAIT to get out of this ghetto hell hole!
I checked out their online listings and called to find out more info, the man I spoke with was incredibly rude, claimed I had not seen any advertisement with their phone number and that I must've been making it up. I described the property and he said he'd need to get back to me, I declined. It shouldn't have mattered where I saw the property listed, I was interested in seeing it, and he was nothing but rude. I won't ever be doing business with Rentmart.
the office staff is horrible, there are roaches everywhere, robberies at gunpoint, and appliances are constantly breaking
The apartments are close to everything, great spot for that. Given the area they are in, they are your safest option as well. The maintenance lead is really good as well. He is the only one on staff who listens when you have a problem and says "Let me see what I can do about it" rather than "I don't know if we can do that." As for the rest of the staff it is like the this. The property manager is always on the phone or out to lunch so she sends you to her assistant. Her assistant is an apathetic rude person who could care less about anything. The other girl in the office is pleasant but she shuts the office down early on week ends so don't expect to be able to get in there on weekends. There are also always uninvited tenants that come to stay in your apartment. And when I say that I mean the roaches. They are everywhere. EVERYWHERE. And it's not just roaches, take your pick of bugs and they are in your apartment. I have been sitting watching TV and had a huge roach run up my leg. I have gotten up early in the morning and walked across the room only to walk into a spider web, in my living room!! They spray but it doesn't help. The buildings are old and not sealed at all. All the spraying does is kill a few that get in. The office could care less, they go with whatever is the cheapest quickest way to shut the tenants up, not what will fix the problem. Also, in their brochures they say that they have "gourmet kitchens" and "designer tile bathrooms" bwhahahaahahaha! My fridge and stove are from the 80's and my dishwasher hardly cleans a dish. The designer tile is the same tile you'd find in a McDonald's bathroom, not fancy at all. They also claim to have energy efficient AC's. That may be true but when you can see out the bottom of your door because it has no insulation nor do any of the windows, that efficiency is gone. Over all, it is an OK place if you need to move somewhere that isn't over priced and is close to stuff. I just wouldn't ever recommend planning on staying for very long.
