It’s not hyperbole to say that I can’t imagine a better place to take my four footed family members for boarding, grooming, or daycare than Wescott Acres. I have taken my dog to multiple other daycares and groomers and have not found the care, attention to detail, or company-wide organization that Wescott Acres has anywhere else. My Silky Terrier, Cujo, started attending Doggie Daycare in July 2009. All of his health history and pertinent information are saved in Wescott Acres’ computer systems and reviewed by every employee. This is very important to me since at another doggie daycare in South Carolina, Cujo was fed treats after I had specifically told the daycare to not feed him treats. The treats were made with peanut butter that had e.coli in it and Cujo spent weeks on antibiotics to recover from the horrible effects of his infection. This cost me hundreds of dollars in veterinary care that the doggie daycare did not reimburse in any way. Every day Cujo was greeted by the same core team of staff members who I know are just as invested as I am in his health and happiness. Beginning in March of 2010 we started taking our second dog, a large German Shepherd/ Husky mix, to doggie daycare. She was treated with the same amount of care as Cujo. In the summer, the staff made sure that she always had cold water and was comfortable. This is something that is hard to do and shows how kind and dedicated the Wescott Acres staff is. The socialization and attention that my dogs got at Wescott Acres was irreplaceable. I have referred several people to Wescott Acres and after they have kept their cat or dog their once, they never go anywhere else. My friends and family are always impressed with the service and attention they and their pets get at Wescott Acres. Most impressive is the attention that the staff showed to my cat, Odin. In October 2010 I found out that Odin had an abscessed liver and would need special food, antibiotics, and nearly constant monitoring for several weeks. I had a weeklong vacation scheduled for the week after his diagnosis and considered cancelling my travel plans until Wescott Acres agreed to take in Odin. I trusted Wescott Acres over my friends and family to take care of my dear cat. The team went above and beyond the already stringent procedures that had to be followed with Odin. One of the staff members created a chart to track Odin’s medicine, food and water consumption, and bathroom use. This was invaluable when I took him to the vet after my vacation.

This pet resort is the trifecta excellent, compassionate, and attentive care for dogs and cats while owners must be away from them for short or extended periods of time. I have known Laura Mitchell since we were children. Her dedication to animals is profound and absolute. I have been reliant on Wescott Acres to take care of my two pampered standard poodles for ten years! My two poodles stay in the luxury suites which are replete with all the comforts of home (beds, chairs, tv, lamps, raised food bowls...) so that I never have to worry about them stressing out. Wescott Acres (a.k.a. to my dogs as "Camp") staff are always friendly and willing to accommodate my many special requests regarding food, exercise options, and how to recognize personality traits of my dogs. It is a relief to know that my dogs are happy and well looked after while we are away. Camp offers outdoor romping areas or walks on a leash. Sometimes my dogs are able to play with their other poodle buddies if they are being boarded at the same time. I am an overprotective mother who has strict expectations of those who will be responsible for the care of my canine children. I bring a cadre of bedding, toys, food, chilly vests or coats, towels, and treats which the staff understand are important to preserve a routine for my dogs and happily execute my instructions. I am grateful to Laura and her wonderful staff for providing a safe harbor for my dogs where they can thrive. When I arrive to pick them up, they are exhausted from having such a great time. I highly recommend that you visit Wescott Acres to discuss the many boarding options that they offer. You will be impressed and relieved that there is such a wonderful place to board your precious pets.
I am deeply humbled by the generosity and compassion of my new family at Wescott Acres. There are no words to adequately express my appreciation for the love, support, and hospitality they have extended my sweet, Lab, Jasper. Jasper has been separated from our family for nearly 4 years; but thanks to Laura and the team at Wescott Acres (and a couple of other amazing people), Jasper was found due to his microchip and rescued. Since my family now lives across the country, Jasper is being cared for and loved on at Wescott Acres until he is well enough to make the cross-country journey to be reunited with our family. Because of the unusual circumstances involved - Laura, at Wescott Acres, extended a heartfelt offer to board Jasper in a safe, loving environment where he could rest and get more healthy - out of the goodness of her heart. So, Jasper is staying in a gorgeous, luxury suite (the St. Martin Luxury Villa) until he is ready to travel 2000 miles home. This is a dream come true that wouldn't have been possible without the compassionate souls that I've met throughout this journey. Laura's whole team has been so fabulous and amazing during this entire time. I have received photos, text, and phone updates every step of the way. Wescott Acres is clearly a professional, responsible, and caring facility that is operated by kind, good-hearted, animal loving people. In all my world travels, I have never been so impressed with the good will of strangers... that have become family. I will never be able to repay Wescott Acres for taking such great care of my 11-year old baby :) Thank you, Laura and team at Wescott Acres, from the bottom of my heart!
Hi, my name is Carol. I've worked at Wescott Acres for almost 11 years. I know Laura and her family personally. I also know how she cares for all her pets, that includes the pets being boarded at her resort. She also cares for her customers (pet's owners) and all her employees. She helps people take care of their vet bills without regard to payment and has helped many people out (including employees in many different ways). It is unfortunate that this "Kessler", "Dana", "Linda B" and "Pandabals" have resorted to such hideous and obnoxious allegation because they were dismissed from their employment at Wescott for not meeting the high standards that Laura has for all employees in care of the pets that stay there. It's a shame that adolescent behavior can turn out to be so malicious.
I have taken my dogs here for two years and hate to leave it now that we are moving. Everyone is so friendly and cares so much about the dogs. They know my dogs by name when I just give them my name. I had to kennel them on short notice when I went into labor and Laura, the owner, had someone meet me after hours so I could drop them off. This is a WONDERFUL place to board your pets, take them for doggy daycare (mine love it), and even get your dog groomed. It truly is a full-service place for all of your dog's needs. I wish I could take them with me when we move!
Wescott help me by taking a stray dog in when no other rescue would. Every member of the staff I spoke with was extremely nice and helpful and seemed knowledgeable. Laura was extremely nice, sweet, and very accommodating. The facility itself when I dropped the dog off was well kept and very clean, there was no smell that usually is associated with a boarding kennel. Not sure what I would have done had they not stepped up and taken this dog in and I am truly grateful to them.
I'm personally upset by all the DRAMA going on in these reviews. I adopted my dog, Max, from their pet rescue operation two years ago. He is the sweetest most loving dog in the world and the only place I trust to board him when I go out of town is at Wescott. The entire premises is wired with cameras so there's nothing shady or any dogs being mistreated. If you want your dog to have a safe place to stay while you're out of town then go to Wescott. You won't regret it.
yLAURA THACKSTON MITCHELL IS THE MOST HONEST, DEDICATED ANIMAL LOVER I AHVE EVER SEEN. I WOULD TRUST HER 100% WITH ANYTHINI HAD AND LOVED. NOT ONLY IS SHE A SMART BUISNESS WOMAN BUT DEDICATED TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I HAVE SEEN HER TAKE A SICK DOG HOME WITH HER AT NIGHT AND ACTUALLY SLEEP WITH IT OR A NERVOUS OWNER THAT LEFT HER PET FOR THE FIRST TIME. WHOM EVER WOULD SAY A NEGATIVE THING ABOUT THIS FINE LADY HAS PROBLEMS ELSE WHERE.
My dogs go daily for daycare as well as board at Wescott. I LOVE having a safe place for my babies and know they are loved a cared for while I am gone. The oldest of my dogs is afraid of storms, being alone, and being caged. She has done awesome there and loves the staff as much as I do. My youngest is a rescue from Wescott. I highly recommend them if you are looking for boarding, daycare, grooming, or a new best friend!
Does anyone know how i can get in touch with someone from the rescue? I've left several messages and even tried calling the resort side. I haven't received a call back and it's been several days. My neighbors moved and left their cat behind. I really don't want to let him die out here or take him where he will be euthanized. How do I speak to an actual person soon??
