Downtown Colorado Springs Premier Brewpub, Billiards and Banquet Facilities

General Info
About PCBC: The Phantom Canyon Brewing Company opened in December 1993, after almost three years in the planning. Phantom Canyon is located in the historic Cheyenne Building, which was built in 1901. Originally the local offices of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, the building was renovated in 1909 and re-opened as The Cheyenne Hotel (owned and operated by the Shafer family until 1963). The Cheyenne Building was the first downtown restaurant to be placed on the National Register of Historical Places and is located on the first corner of the city. All addresses and street plans originate from the intersection of Pikes Peak and Cascade. The building is named after Cheyenne Mountain and Chief Two Moons of the Cheyenne Indian Tribe (whose stone visage looks over the front entrance). Our second floor boasts the most elegant billiard hall in Colorado Springs. The Phantom Canyon Billiard Hall opened in June 1996 and contains 13 pool tables, an entertaining jukebox, foosball tables, dart boards and big-screen TVs. It's a popular destination for both the Happy Hour crowd and late night joy seekers. Late night specials and promotions complete the Billiard Hall ambience. Our third floor Banquet Hall is the perfect place to host private parties or business gatherings. The hall was newly restored and opened December of 2001. It features rows of arched windows with gorgeous mountain views. Wood flooring and 12 foot high ceilings create an elegant space that can accommodate groups of 20- 170 guests. The Banquet Hall contains a full bar and kitchen which cater exclusively to third floor events. Reservations and bookings are arranged through our Banquet Director. Brewery: Phantom Canyon's ales are made from only the finest malted barley and hops from the American Northwest, true ale yeast and pure Colorado water. Our brew master makes a wide variety of ales to meet the demands of our avid Colorado Springs beer drinkers. These ales and are to be enjoyed immediately, unpasteurized and unfiltered at the proper traditional temperatures. You may find anywhere from 8 to 10 specialty brews available, including our homemade Root Beer. Ask your server for all the styles available today. Billiards: The Billiard Hall is located on the second floor of this historic, 100-year-old building. On this floor, the spacious hall features a full-service bar, 13 tournament-style billiard tables, foosball, televisions, a jukebox and the most magnificent views of downtown Colorado Springs. Our Billiard Hall has been awarded "Best Place to Shoot Pool". The space is available for booking private parties of up to 224 people. Phantom Canyon Brewing Company is located in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Since 1993, we have been treating residents and tourists to fine food, great microbrews and excellent service. Housed in the historic, 3-story Cheyenne Building, Phantom Canyon has been credited with revitalizing the downtown area.

Skip Sunfish Tacos

Normally Phantom blows you away with it's portion sizes and quality of food, but after trying the tacos I don't know if I'll ever be back. We love the servers and bartenders, but what is happening in the back of the house? Sub-Phantom quality. Sorry to say that I won't be back anytime soon.

I could write a novel on the novelties that Phantom Canyon has..... but I won't, I'll settle for a short story.
So, we planned our wedding to be officiated and held at Phantom on their third floor banquet facility. It was easy having the wedding and our reception here as well. I highly reccomend it!
It was last January 4th, what a day. Beautiful sunshine in Colorado..... besides marrying my wife, having our event at Phantom was the other best decision! We had the most organized planner ever.... I can't even say enough how the staff worked with us to make everything go exactly the way we dreamt it to.
Heather was awesome, Travis orchestrated the grand finale of food delivery with incredible ambiance and attention, Chef Scotty created beautiful and mind blowing tasty to the palate platters of Medium-Rare Beef Tenderloin with Horseradish Mashed Potatoes and then there was the Thai Chile Cream sauce over Sesame Crusted Atlantic Salmon with the steamed Baby Bok Choy.
We got married! Everything went perfectly. Everyone cried, everyone laughed. We dined. We danced. We all celebrated this beautiful event, together, with family and friends and my most favorite staff in the world (that I truly feel are my family and friends).
If you are planning to get married, screw Vegas, go to Phantom. It's a memory that I will forever cherish!

Try The IPA!

The menu rarely changes, but these guys do a fantastic job. The craft beers are great and there's even a little something to please the vegitarian.
I beg you to try their IPA. It's one of my favorites!

unprofessional staff

So the last time we visited this place, I was extremly upset by the service! There were 2 chefs loitering near the kitchen, discussing doing illegal substances and events from a drinking party which were not very lunch friendly. My server was nice, however, the chefs should keep the party/substance abuse talk out of the dining facility.

Over rated ""cool place"" too be seen...

Over priced and understaffed this place is a tourist trap nightmare. If you can make your way through the grungy, tree hugging college kids, good luck. Their microbrewed beer taste a hint like New York sewerwater .(Don't ask) If pachouli is your frangrance of choice then this place gets 5 *****.

Great Food, Ambiance and Beer

For a Brewery they had a great selection of food. Not just bar food and very different menu. The art on the wall was fun and the decor in the restaurant was inviting. Great service with our waitress. Overall I would eat here again.

A must for out-of-towners

Any time guests visit from out of town, we take them to Phantom Canyon. To date, no one indicated not wanting to return.

The menu changes somewhat regularly, and the selections are always great. From the lunch salads to the prime rib, I have yet to be disappointed. The beers are also excellent.

Love MicroBrews

Want beer on tap? This is the place. My husband loves IPA and raves about Phantom's. This is a great place to go with the folks for dinner. My parents enjoyed it. They loved the atmosphere, its classic and the food is upscale, but you can have a beer with dinner. This is perfect for my parents. My dad took a tour of the whole building himself just to see the old design.

However, its a great relaxed hot spot if you want to play some pool and have a beer and listen to the juke box. If you go upstairs on a weekend, you will get ID'd at the door, so make sure you have your license or you'll get shot back downstairs, which has happened to me before.

Plus, they do banquets, and I fare that any place that can do a great wedding reception is tops in my book.

Fantastic food ... Service with a smile...

My wife and I would not normally even try a restaurant like this, but, a couple of friends of ours had their reception here. We were both quite shocked at the level of service offered, and the food. Let?s just say the food was quite a surprise.

Coming from just outside of Annapolis, MD we have had the luxury of eating at the best that Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington, DC have to offer.
I?d be the first person to tell you there are a lot of Restaurant/Brewery combinations in that area, and in my opinion, those that we tried were overpriced and most were a total waste of time and money.

Mind you, the event we attended was catered by Phantom Canyon and was held on the third floor of the restaurant. The food was quite good and was served up with a smile. The servers and bar staff were very eager to please, and I really appreciate that kind of service.

If you are looking for somewhere to have a reception, or any event where a semi-formal room, good food and service is needed.
Check them out!!! You?ll be happy you did!

Oh, try the bar level too!

Great Microbrews

The Phantom Canyon is a wonderful location for those who enjoy true breweries. They have quite the selection of handcrafted brews on tap and the food isn't all that bad either. The waitstaff is pretty friendly and the atmosphere is great.

Great food!

My DH and I went there for lunch on a friday. We were seated immediately. I ordered this thai chicken dish. It was really good. I can't remember what he had, but he loved it. We were both impressed. The food was comparable to the Cheesecake Factory. Lunch prices were pretty reasonable.

Not recommended at all

aS one of the other reviewers mentioned , a good place to play pool, a bad place for dinner. over battered and overcooked fish and chips for me, and an overcooked steak for my partner, and so-so house beers make this a stop to skip.

Good beer, bad food

The bar and pool hall are the highlight of the restaurant as the food is not. If your looking for a place to dine, go elsewhere, if you want to shoot a few games on the billiards tables, drink a little beer, and have a munchy this is the place

Go for the hand-pulled beers

They usually have a couple, the IPA is excellent. The food is good not great. Billards hall upstairs is excellent for a post dinner game.

I loved the offerings of potent beers such as the IPA and BArley Wine. This is a must for beer lovers. The Barley Wine is seasonal. I had it in January and it was gone when i was back in town in April.

Great Family Restaraurant

Looking for great eats after a day in the beautiful springs? This is the place. We showed up hungry at dinner time with 8 adults and 6 kids ranging from 9 months to 12 yrs old and the service could not have been better. An added bonus for parents - the food was terrific too!

No Accounting For Taste @ Cityscape

I take strong exception to the Citysearch review on the Phantom Canyon. I've patronized the place regularly over the past 5 years and the place has never varied either in the quality and offering of beers (I'm a devotee) as well as the output of the kitchen. Certainly, all establishments have their ups & downs, but to leap to conclusions like Cityscape did is a grave disservice
