Padma: "Tudor Rose is a wonderful little shop in the West Village owned by a husband and wife team. They've been around for years, and they sell antique silver that they personally go to hunt and gather. Anything from Victorian vanity sets like a perfume bottle or mirror and brush, to tiny crystal jewelry boxes that are great first-baby presents, to silver frames or tea sets. They sell everything from Tiffany to non-branded, Edwardian ... all that stuff. What I like about them is they're incredibly knowledgeable and passionate -- they're very sweet."
"I have a tradition where every year on my child's birthday I go and buy her a piece of silver. Whether it's little dainty candlesticks, or a silver mirror, so that by the time she is 30 and wants to get married – or even if she doesn't want to get married – once she gets her first real home, she will have a silver trousseau that has been collected and curated over the years."
"They know my daughter really well. Three years ago she was obsessed with this painting in The Met by Goya – it's a painting of a little boy in a red jacket who has these cats on a leash. But it's a huge painting! And she was just really obsessed with it. So they very sweetly as a present gave Krishna a little silver frame with a copy of this painting. It was just a little 3x5 thing, but it sits on her dressing table to this day. They're just such a sweet, sweet couple, and they're so passionate about what they do."
