Ice Cream & Frozen Desserts
225 E 60th StNew York, NY
If you have family visiting from waaay out of town, this uptown landmark is a great place to spend an afternoon. And yes, it will be an afternoon, because there's always a crowd willing to wait a good 90 minutes for a table. For a kitschy, out-of-the-way, un-scenic, no-booze ice cream parlor to have such pull, you can bet it must be serving up some kind of magic -- and so it is. The Frrrozen Hot Chocolate is legendary, with variations like peanut butter taking the experience to new levels. Anything in the sundae or float category is sure to be outstanding, and shareable between at least two people. In fact, in my experience, it's not quite possible to eat every last bite of an S23 ice cream concoction -- they're just too rich and enormous.
