I don't know what expectations the people commenting on this restaurant have but this was my 3rd time at the Clinton House and a fabulous dinner. Our server Carole was awesome. Most of the servers here look like they've been here for 30 years but that's part of the charm. Carole had an opinion about every item we ordered and even comped us a dessert when she heard it was one of our first times out without the baby. dinners are pricey but my filet mignon was perfect and my husband's Tbone too. I do agree with previous commenters that the wine glasses are silly and smaller BUT they practically filled it to the top. I had the house cabarnet which was not that great and I couldn't get past 3 sips. They do have a list of new specialty drinks and I had the summertini which was awesome. desserts are great - we had the peach cobbler and it's huge. definitely meant for 2 to share. bread was the only let down. it clearly wasn't freshly baked and there were about 3 tiny slices in the basket. the diner down the road (clinton station) has better bread! that would be my only complaint. buy or bake bread that fits in with the entree prices.
Had reservations for 10 (9attended) for 3pm on Father's Day. The room was very quaint and European with respect to tudor, stained glass and stone fireplace. Mom is British and our family has been to England many times and with respect to the atmosphere, this was like a little trip abroad (more German looking in our room-our son loved the sauerbraten). My three brothers, husband and son all were looking forward to the Beef Wellington. Banter went back and forth for days on what if only one is left? It was quite hysterical really. In the end, there was no Beef Wellington on that particular day, but it is on the menu generally. There was a Father's Day special menu including Salad, Entree, coffee and dessert. All were wonderful at a reasonable price! One could dine off the regular menu except for the BW. Several of us did. Not one complaint from anyone in our group.
Went to the Clinton House for a last minute change for a Birthday Dinner closer to home than driving to Bucks County, PA. I could not be any happier with my experience. EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING was just perfect from our server to the drinks to ALL the food. The martinis were in nice size glasses and made exactly to our liking. The appetizers of Mussels Marinara, which I was not expecting much because this is not an Italian restaurant, but were probably the best I have ever tasted. My Prime Rib was huge and cooked temperature was wonderful!, as well as my dining party's Strip Steak. Desserts were to die for....needless to say....I will be coming back here as often as possible!
Our visit to Clinton is never complete unless we have eaten at The Clinton House! Demetri and the wonderful staff are always friendly and attentive. The Southern Comfort Sours are great! My favorite menu item is the prawn cocktail with fresh horseradish, and for my main meal the filet mignon au poivre with brandied cream sauce. Dessert is either cheesecake or the bread pudding with Baileys.. We have been coming here for over 21 years now and its great to have a local restaurant that is always consistent and welcoming!
This is a lovely old house that has been converted into a rather large restaurant. The interior decor is lovely and the staff were very friendly. There was a simple salad and then filet mignon with baked potato, Very solid. It is the type of restaurant that certainly might be romantic in the proper setting as it has a warm interior. Thus, I could see how people might find this as a wonderful restaurant. attractive setting for a business dinner
Big Surprise in a Little Town! I recently found myself in need of a restaurant in the Clinton, NJ area. Not being familiar, I did a quick search online and found some positive things written about the Clinton House, so I pulled the trigger and made a reservation. My companion and I arrived for our Friday evening setting, and found the hostess more than friendly
We went on the Sat before Labor Day and had most of the restaurant to ourselves at lunch. Service was very good. Prices were reasonable. Everything was very good though, my son's blackened mako shark Caesar salad was a great combination. The deserts were of less interest but tasty enough. We plan on going back, get the crabcakes if you like seafood.
This is the perfect place for a romantic meal mid week. We were seated in the beamed back room near the fireplace, which was much quieter than the main restaurant. Food was excellent, I had the lamb, and my wife had the steak. Good wine list choices, and the Octoberfest special Pumpkin martini was a great way to start the evening.
I've dined at Clinton House so many times but have never reviewed it! This is one of my very favorite restaurants. It is always a warm, cozy atmosphere inside, especially nice if you are seated by the fireplace. The staff here are always so friendly and never hurry you if you wish to take time between courses. Never disappoints.
Stopped at the Clinton House for a light dinner at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and knew the menu well. Although I had only planned on having an appetizer, I saw a traditional Beef Wellington on the menu. It was quite good. Light crunchy pastry with a very nicely done filet mignon in the center. I plan on returning.
