Its sad that another had a bad experience since we have almost always had a wonderful time with good service. I love the freshness of the food, the show is fun but the dining room is better if you have seen it. Lunch is (MUCH) cheaper than dinner if you want to save money.
Good stuff here folks! Prices are great at lunch, little more at dinner but still worth it. Great place to take kids, The cooks entertain quite well. And if you like sushi my friend Jill swears it is great, however, I don't have the stomach for it...lol..worth the trip!

We go there almost 2 times a week - at least once.
We have been coming this restaurant for 2years as regular and we never had bad time. Food is always good, staff is always nice and well educated. Sometimes we have to wait a little bit but it is worthy.
I like their home made spring roll and my son (he is 5) likes salmon sushi, he loves all kind of sushi( which makes bill high h h ). Also the cooks are very entertaining with good care. Sometimes they don't answer my question but it is because of the noise from big hood. So I have to wait till the server comes to us or till the cook finish his table.
It is always pleasure expirience having meal at Tako Yaki.

My daughter loves this type of restaurant and wanted to go to our hometown Japanese Restaurant for her birthday. I told them on the phone that it was her birthday, and also told the chef, but he just mumbled something. He asked us at least 5 times how we wanted our steak, and then it was wrong. We saw a chef two tables down do the usual egg catch with the hat, choo choo train, sparkles, etc. Our chef did NOTHING. No tricks or interaction with us whatsoever. We were so disappointed for our daughter. She tried to enjoy it anyway. We didn't receive any sauces, and finally when we asked, we all got the white sauce only. Our drink glasses stayed empty for most of the meal until I wandered out into the hallway to search for someone to refill them. We were also at the end of the table that was served first, so our portions were very much smaller than those at the other end. Finally, the rice was not cooked enough and was basically raw and hard, some of the vegetables were burnt and tasted terrible, while the ones on top were not cooked at all. They were never tossed. Our bill was over 100.00, and we could have gotten much better food at the quick Hibachi Grill, and sauces even come with that. Our chef had no writing on his hat, so perhaps he was a chef in training. He coughed several times, dropped a shrimp on the countertop part of the table and then picked it up and served it on my plate, and didn't even smile or appear to even want to entertain. Save your money and time. I wanted to support the hometown Japanese steakhouse, but NEVER again will we go there.
We use every excuse to eat lunch here. We love their lunch special. We recently dined in the area
where the food is cooked for us right in front of us. You just have to try it!! It is an excellant dining
experience. There were some toddler children at the table next to us. The cook entertained the children
the entire meal.
The dining experience when it was House of Japan was horrible! They have so much improved that I do not feel the need to drive to Chattanooga anymore. I can get great affordable, delicious food in Cleveland now. Thanks for the great improvements the new owner has made.
when it was House of Japan it was not good at all as a fine dining restaurant.
but when i heard from one of my friend i wanted to try it expecting sometihng better under new managment.
actually they are new owner and every employee was new. anyway i went there for lunch special at regular table.
they were busy at that time and servers were only two and looked too few for that many customer but they were so nice and very fast.they were in a hurry but did good service on time. about food!!! it was excellent!!!
it was ten times better than before.quick and good taste only 2 meal 11.95.it is worthy trying. i will try dinner for my sons birthday at the habachi grill.
We ate here last night with a large party. The service was horrible; my wife's drink sat empty for about 15 minutes at one point. The food was bad; some of it was burnt and none of it tasted good. The chef only accomplished 1 of the 5 tricks he attempted. But all of this was the least of my concerns.
They blatantly lie on their menu. It says that all entrees include two shrimp, along with soup and salad, for appetizers. They never gave us the shrimp. They never told us they weren't going to. When we confronted the owner he refused to do anything about it. He basically told us, "Too bad. Go away." If you don't want to get ripped off, DON'T EAT HERE.
i am so sorry to get this review. but we already have changed many things specially "The owner" ^^. i hope every one who comes to Tako Yaki get good food and great service, and leave with smile in the end. thank you for your new visit to Tako Yaki Japanese Steak&Sushi.
