I called Hanger Clinic to inquire if they had a back brace that I needed. I gave them the code number for the Brace and my health insurance information. I was told the Brace was covered under my insurance and I could get the Brace the same day. Wrong! I made an appointment. Once I arrived, I was not seen for thirty minutes. This is after I inquired about my appointment time. Still I was put in a room with a wait time. One of the staff informed me that the Brace required a prior authorization but they did not think the Brace was covered by the insurance. When I asked why I was told that the Brace was covered and I could get the Brace that day, I received a lot of excuses. I left to wait for the Brace. I received a call from Cara, who fabricated about the insurance paying for the Brace. She told me the Insurance Company wanted me to upgrade to a more expensive custom made Brace. I would have to come in again to get measure. I explained that I was not interested in a custom brace. Cara said, the insurance company was not going to pay for it. I called the insurance company to find out why they wanted me to get a custom brace. I was told they never told anyone at Hanger I needed to get a custom brace. In fact, they never even received the information from Hanger's Clinic. Frustrated, I call Hanger's back and speak with Cara. I tell her the insurance company never told her this. She stated, this was her opinion that I need a custom brace. Based on my experience, this clinic attempted to upgrade a brace to pay more money. The communication was misleading from the Clinic. I would not recommend this Clinic.
