I'm new to Cleveland/Parma and have been looking for a great European bakery like the kind I grew up with in Chicago. They also sell pierogi (the best I've had in a long time), kielbasa and cabbage rolls.
Overall I highly recommend this bakery for quality and customer service.

I grew up in Parma, visiting Rudy's often and always ordering my pierogies and breads for holidays. As I planned my wedding, Rudy's came to mind immediately.
Though it felt everything else went wrong on that day, my cake was perfect. My florist and caterer made huge errors, but Rudy's saved the reception. My cake traveled from Parma to Columbus by my uncle, but was packaged so well that the cake went unharmed. It was exactly as I had asked- even though I ordered the cake and communicated only over the phone and never in person. Aside from how it looked, the cake tasted amazing. I kid you not, I had two pieces. Many guests told me how great the cake tasted, and several people took cake home. It made me proud that the bakery of my childhood was a highlight of my wedding day.
Overall, I had a great experience with Rudy's while ordering my cake and on my wedding day. It makes me sad to read the bad reviews below. I do know that the bakery did change owners for a period of time, with Eugenia returning to the business recently.
Go to Rudy's. You won't be disappointed.

On 4/10/09, at 7:15 AM, I ordered a white or yellow Easter cake with white frosting, and lettering. I was told they would add the lettering when I picked up the cake. I stopped at 2:00 PM that day to pick up my cake and was told it had been sold---and did I want a chocolate cake? No, if I had wanted a chocolate Easter cake I would have ordered a chocolate Easter cake. How is it possible to treat customers with such insolence?

perogies are very good and a good price, they have a lot of filling and the dough is soft and we like the cheesecake also....I wish they were open on Sundays, it would be nice to stop in after church...... have ordered cakes from them also and they were good and many people in the family started ordering from them this past year after seeing the ones we have had...I don't understand why I need 100 woods !!

I was very pleased to see that Rudy's is back under the original ownership. I've been a regular customer for many years (and am an especially big fan of their pierogies). Now that Eugenia's back the quality is better than I recently remember it. My wife and I also had our wedding cake through them (four years ago), they did a really great job. I highly recommend.

Avoid embarrassment. If you do not want to have your party spoiled and be embarrassed what pastries you are serving, do not go to Rudy's.
When ordering I asked one of the employees what pastries are included on the tray. She said: ""the marzipan bars, walnut cherry bars, cheesecake, brownies, Lady locks and Kolachkis"". I also asked about the pecan cups and she said, No, they do not go on the tray. After she said that, I am thinking... that's right. Every time we ordered a tray before, all those pastries she mentioned were on the tray and the pecan cups were not. The young girl NEVER mentioned anything that buying the marzipan bars is extra. I picked up the tray the day of the party and brought it out after the dinner. To my surprise, I did not notice any Marzipans. However, this was nothing compared to an unusual number of edges. I understand and expect to get some edges but not a 1/3 of the tray. Right away, I remembered the beautiful display window in the bakery and did not remember seeing any edges. I thought to myself... I know who gets them now. I called the owner and complained. I complained about the edges and not receiving the Marzipan bars. The owner said that to get the Marzipan bars, I needed to pay extra. How come nobody told me?? I would have paid extra. When I ordered the bakery under the previous ownership, I always received the Marzipan bars without paying extra. But... if something changes, I feel I need to be informed. The new owner was upset with my call and so was I for being stuck serving poor quality pastries and missing the Marzipan bars. I have to say that she right away offered to return the money. I felt that she should not because we served and ate the pastries since we were stuck not having enough of other deserts. However she insisted to return the money claiming that if a customer is not fully satisfied, she refunds the money. Oh well, to this day I have not seen anything in the mail from Rudy's Bakery.

I went to Rudy's a month ahead of time and ""ordered ahead "" Christmas bakery"" to be picked up today December 23, for my party tomorrow December 24th. I was very surprised and unhappy to be told when I arrived that they did not have any ""Snowball"" cookies that I had ordered. I was told ""we didn't make any this year"", but they had them in the store when I was there the month before to order. At first, I was told they didn't have 2 kinds of other cookies I had ordred and then was told that was incorrect, they didn't have the snowballs. I don't live close and I used there bakery because they had the items I wanted. To me, when you order ahead, you should get what you ordered! They didn't even apologize and I got no response from the clerk when I asked why they didn't call me and notify me that they were not going to be making something I had ordered, so I would have the option of choosing something else or going somewhere else! The topping on the cake (excuse my pun) is that another customer came in while I was there and said they had charged her for more than she had ordered and when I got home, I had ordered 2 dozen eclairs and 2 dozen cream puffs, and there was only 1 dozen of each in the box and I had paid for 2 dozen of each. I called the store and was told they would make more if I could come in today. I will not be returning to this establishment. This is not the proper way to do business.

I had Rudy's Strudel create my wedding cake. It was one layer of vanilla cake, butter-cream frosting, a thin layer of raspberry filling, and a layer of chocolate. The cake was then beautifully covered and decorated with a delicious butter-cream. I chose the cake I wanted out of a book at their facility and it was exactly how I envisioned it when it arrived on time to our reception venue. I would strongly recommend them for future wedding cakes, and have done so numerous times! (With many happy replies!)

While Rudy's does have great Pirogies and I have had great birthday cakes from them, I would not recommend letting them have anything to do with your wedding! We got our wedding shower cake from there and it was cracked all down the middle. While we were given our money back along with the manager's apologies, they still messed up our wedding cake. We went there twice to go over the details and even provided pictures of what we wanted it to look like and they pretty much just did their own thing. While it wasn't horrible, it definitely was not what we specifically asked for OR what our pictures looked like. The reception hall was not happy with their service either. Apparently they are very hard to get ahold of and when they dropped off the cake they left it for the vendor to set up.
