My mother was a resident of MSAB Park Creek Center for 4 and 1/2 years. I live out of town but visited several times a year. From what I could see the facility is neat and clean I believe her care was sufficient and her needs were met. Unfortunately she passed away in November 2017. I am writing this letter because of a conversation I had with Linda A. Felice, the Administrator, which has left me slightly unsettled. My husband and I were at the nursing home the week of my mother's passing; we cleaned out her room, and laid her to rest respectfully. At one point I asked Linda about the details surrounding my mother's passing. She told me she passed while eating dinner in the dining hall.
She then went on to say, in so many words, that my mother couldn't have picked a worse place to die- the dining hall. She said it was traumatic to the workers on that shift as they were high school employees working a weekend shift. I am sure her words were not intended to make me feel bad about my mother's death but it has left me replaying those words over and over again. We certainly don't chose to die to make people uncomfortable; we pass on when it's our time. My mother did not die to traumatize anybody, it was just her time to go. Maybe, she should learn better word choices when communicating with family members who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Kind words and compassion are much easier to process in that state of mind. I would like to thank the employees of the facility for caring for my mother while she was a resident.

Sincerely,

R. Newman

My mother was a resident of Park Creek Center for the last five years of her life until we lost her at the age of 94.
I can't tell you how grateful our entire family is for the care and concern she received while she was there. We soon learned that the staff cared for her as though she was a member of their own family. They looked after her and took care of the little things as well as the major concerns. We are convinced that everything from the balanced diet she received, the physical and mental activities that engaged her, the on-site medical attention that was provided to her, and the daily friendship and interaction from residents and Park Creek staff extended her life by several years.
Thank you so much to the administrative, nursing, associate, and dining room staff for providing our mother with a quality of life that we had always hoped she would receive later in her life.
We remain and will always be eternally grateful to Park Creek Center.

My mother has dementia and is difficult to deal with on many days but the staff there is patient and kind with her. I know she gets her medication and meals and her personal care is taken care of. I could not be more pleased with everyone there. If you have needs for assisted living or help with a loved one who needs extra care - you can not go wrong by choosing this facility.
