I've gone to Designing Tailors twice now for alterations; one just to shorten a pair of dress pants with a more complex cuff to them--it required undoing the cuff seams, shortening the legs, then redoing the cuffs. When I got the pants back the only way I could tell anything had been done to them was when I put them on and saw how well they fit--the cuffs were exactly as they were when I bought the pants and they looked great!
Just recently I took a very heavy handmade monk's robe to her to have the front (where I'd cut it down the length) hemmed from neck to foot and have the sleeves taken in a bit. Cost a little under 40 dollars but boy was it worth it; the hemming is so well done you can hardly tell it was altered, and the stitches are so straight and even there's no chance of unraveling. My roommate also brought in a pair of pants for hemming and they look and fit fantastically.
The work is great and so far I've not had a bad experience, and as they're just around the corner from my house I will continue to take my clothing here!
I had a very bad expereince here. I had a jacket altered for $30. When I got the jacket back I thought simply they would fix the errors, because they were quite obvious. The jacket was completely unwearable for me. They admitted there were several errors, and that they would fix them, for an additional $25! I was shocked. I said I expected the jacket to either be fixed at no charge, or I wanted my money back. I was told to either pay more money or to get out. They were rude, and aggressive. What is just awful about this is that I had my three young children with me. Their behavior around my kids was awful - just awful. I now have a jacket that I cant wear, and my kids were in tears. DONT GO HERE. PEOPLE LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS!

I had a horrible experience here. I had a jacket altered, for $30. When i got the jacket back, it didnt even fit right, completely unwearable for me- almost like they did it for someone else. I went back to the store, put it on and showed them the erros, which they agreed it had. They said they would fix all the error for an additional $25. I said I wanted it corrected for nothing- or my orginal $30 back- never mind I cant wear the jacket anymore. I was told to either pay up more money, or leave. I was stunned. I WAS ALSO STANDING THERE WITH MY THREE YOUNG CHILDREN. So Rude, but more so- grossly inappropriate was their behavior in front of the kids. I am filing in small claims court-.
