Customer service personnel and system needs to be more customer oriented. My power went out a month ago and went online to check the power outage areas and noticed that my account was not credited with the payment I had my bank send directly to Habersham EMC a week before it was due. I contacted Habersham EMC to check on the payment and the representative confirmed that no payment was received. I proceeded to tell the representative that I was going to place a stop payment on that check (and provided the check number) and pay the amount due online immediately so that it was not past due. A week or so later they attempted to cash the check I had notified them I was placing a stop payment on (even though my account had a $0 balance). They charged me a $35 fee for the NSF check. Very incompetent people working there and incapable of noting the account. This is why we need options and not a monopoly.
