We use real butter and other "real" ingredients for "real" food! We are a restaurant that has been in business since 1935, this makes our 76th anniversary. The Cottage Cafe began in 1935 by a local construction firm known as J.J. Masterson & Sons. Masterson quickly realized that he was no "restaurant man" and hired Mary Hawthorne to manage the Cottage in 1938. Mary did a remarkable job and began the legend of homemade pies, soups and goo-ole" American food. It was once said: "We cannot really own the Cottage, we are simply caretakers." Someday, we will be gone, but the Cottage will remain. A haven for hungry travelers, families and working people from all parts of the country. Ben and Wanda Goldie, Current proprietors.

The Place To Eat In Cle Elum

I lived in the area from 1946 to 1967 and make the annual trip 'back home'. This is where the local residents eat. It's been there since the 1930's. Good food, good prices, large portions, good service and HOMEMADE pies. If you're hungry, go here. The truckers pull off the freeway to eat at The Cottage and have done so for years. It's a busy place on the weekends, but well worth the wait !!
