My review is going to be a long one:HTM (Harvest Time Ministries) is truly a place where healing began in May 2015 for our family. I tried everything from restricting privileges, to ordering "Total Transformation" program by James Lehman, to counseling, to prayers (lots of them), to you name it. In addition to everyone putting their two cents in! This was a last resort for me before sending her to a wilderness camp.I was desperate because I didn't want to lose my daughter and she was slipping away fast. She was, and still is, far too important to give up on.Raising children is not an easy task and especially girls (that is a whole different animal-LOL). My goal as a parent is to raise a happy, productive member of society. I can say that we have an honest relationship where I trust her now and we communicate.Clearly, if you are at the point of researching places to send your daughter you are at your wits end, as I was, and have tried everything, at least I hope you have.I researched for 3 months before I made my final decision. I took my daughter to HTM and had my mother come with me for an objective opinion. We both had an overwhelming peace when we were there. Christine and Emily explained everything very well. Leading up to coming to HTM were many of phone calls and a ton of questions. We came from Washington state and it's pretty unnerving sending your daughter across the country to live with strangers that you know nothing about. I know that God had his hands over the situation from the beginning and covered us. It was blind faith and a trust in God. This is not going to be for everyone nor every situation. It has not been an easy journey and I have made lots of personal changes too. It has been a sacrifice of time, holidays, special occasions, birthdays, money and control. Missing out on these things now so healing could begin far outweighed the potential consequences of not taking action. If you are expecting to send her to HTM and she is the only one making changes then you are setting yourself up for failure and should not bother. You can't send her there for them to "fix her" because everyone needs to be involved in making changes. Also, if you send her right back to the same environment after she leaves, then that will yield the same results eventually. The school is not accredited and I was fully aware of that before I sent her there (they make sure that you know that BEFORE you agreed to send her). It was not a big deal for me because I knew that she would be back home so her credits that she earned while there would transfer to her new school and graduation wouldn't be a problem for us. (We are doing a private Christian school to continue the foundation that was built upon since she has been gone). We regularly attend church too. I should also mention that she was able to make up a year and a half of schooling that put her ahead a whole year (she was behind by a half of a year BEFORE she started attending HTM).In the 2+ years that she was there, I have seen girls come and go, some finish and some don't! Some families have sent more than one daughter, but at different times. Or I have seen cousins attend, but again at different times than the original girl. It's not a coincidence they have repeat families. Most of the girls voluntarily stay and do an internship to give back. It truly is an amazing place that is filled with love and a true care for those girls. Are they perfect? Nope....nobody is, but they give it 110% in my opinion. HTM is building a foundation of our lord and it's amazing that they give each girl the ability to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. When my daughter first went to HTM, she did not have a strong background of God and Jesus nor did I.....BUT we believed! It is truly a gift of knowledge about God that she has been given. I would do it all over again especially with what I know now and I have witnessed first hand.Pray about it and ask that God's will be done.

Life hit rock at bottom 11. My mom died when I was 8, my dad remarried & my family moved away from all I loved. Everyday I lied, stole & cheated. This was my cry for help. I recall the day my therapist said I couldn't change. I was broken. Therapy wasn't the answer! In 2008 I came into HTM. Rev Shawn & all staff are examples of Gods love. They became another family to me. Rev Shawn took me on vacations. I saw love in EVERYONE. Change WAS possible. I graduated in 2012. I was able to work there for 4 yrs. To give back was such a honor! I was taught life skills & given opportunities young women just don't get! Each student is shown love, respect & encouragement. Those who have never been there may think they know what HTM is, but they have no idea! Each person who comes says they feel God's peace. To say that HTM is a prison that uses God's Word to turn girls away from Christ is so wrong! HTM has been a safe haven for hundreds of families I can write this because my life has been changed
This place is a lie. They tell you that you can finish school but in all honesty they are not accredited. Do not send you're child here. The food is disgusting with bugs crawling in it. There is a cockroaches infestation in the dorm rooms. The so called"Rev" lies. Nothing ever got better. This place is a scam t o get you're money. They don't care about the girls . I would have rather sat in jail/prison because this place gave no freedom. Staff are mean and they yell. Ask the retarded Rev how she gets the money. There were times we went without air condition in the school. Guys she steals money. There was really not a school enviroment. So the question is,what is she really doing with this money? She is spending it on her nasty ass self. So please spare you're daughters life by not sending her here. I'm the one who has experienced being there. Oh they would also force religion on you and when you didn't wanna do it they would punish you with the Bible . They were the ones who turned me away from "god" . So don't be fooled by this place.
When we made the decision to take our daughter to Harvest, we know the Lord drew us there. From the minute I clicked on their website, a peace came over me. It is a very hard thing to do, leave your daughter with strangers, but we did it. Our first visit was amazing. There was a change already happening. By the end of our 18 months, our family had healed. My husband talked about how he and I had grown closer. Jessica is in her 3rd year of collage, getting married in July to a wonderful Christian man and will have a degree in Accounting in a couple years. More than that, she has found her own church home and attends regular. She is also a paid nursery worker there. Who would have believed it? Don't give up on your daughter... Harvest isn't an easy place, but it is worth the work she had to do. I would do it again!!!
God has been good to us. Restoring God's family one life at a time. When we search for water and find none, the God of Israel will bring water (Holy Spirit) to the them.
Wow, what can I say about this place? My vocabulary is not vast enough to describe the wonderful things about HTM. I lived there for 5 years. As soon as I stepped foot onto the property, there was an overwhelming peace that overtook me. I knew that God's work is being done. I came in a hurting young woman, & left confident. There is unconditional love, & the staff gives 200% to each student, & each other. Rev Shawn is one of the most loving people I have been blessed to know, & I've made some of my best friends here. I have seen those girls tortured from their past come to life again. I have seen them turn their life around & live for God. It is amazing at what the Spirit can do when one is so humble & sacrifices their life to serve. "Greater love has no man than one that lays his life down for another" is the perfect verse that sums up HTM. Rev Shawn has laid down her life to serve Him, which in turn means she serves her students and staff. I absolutely love her, the staff, & HTM.
Amazing ministry that has saved countless lives over the past twenty years!!! Honored to have such an amazing ministry in our community!!!
Coming from a former student's perspective, this ministry literally saved my life. I came into Harvest Time in 2005 lost and confused and searching for hope. I was an anorexic, a cutter and a pill popper. My life has been forever changed. As a student, intern, and staff, I know first hand what goes on behind the scenes. For somebody to say that we never have fun they obviously have no idea what they're talking about and they've never been here. Holidays, cook outs, regular movie nights, luaus, fireworks, game nights and lots of laughter is what I experienced. I am now married, with 3 children and serving in our local church. It's been 8 years since I graduated and I still keep in touch with the ministry. My younger sister also graduated from the ministry and we consider this our second home. All I can say is thank you God!!
Our relationship with HTM began at a time of desperation. Our daughter was 15 when things started to go off rail...she developed a life threatening eating disorder, was self mutilating, had several serious suicide attempts, and was in & out of 25 mental facilities. There seemed to be no hope. Then one weekend I took her on a retreat to Dayspring Bible Camp where she gave her life to Christ. Sometime later a friend told us about HTM & she enrolled at age 20. It was her saving grace. That is where her road to restoration began. Were there struggles along the way? Yes, but God was working in her day by day. She completed the 18 month program & then interned. This allowed her more time in which to grow & find her direction. She continued to stay on in ministry fulltime at HTM and has grown into a wonderful young woman with a heart for doing the Lords work. If I’ve learned anything it is to “let go and let God”! The Lord of Lords is at work at HTM, I’ve seen it firsthand. Sherri P.
The Lord brought us to Harvest Time two years ago. Our daughter was on a path of self destruction and we did not know where to turn. We had tried counselor after counselor with no success. By the Grace of God we found out about Harvest Time (HTM) and made the difficult decision to send our daughter. Through God's guidance, the tireless work of the Harvest Time, and A LOT of prayer our daughter recently graduated as a totally transformed young woman. All the destructive behavior she had exhibited prior to HTM is under control and she is now on a path to being a faithful, productive member of society. The cost to send her to HTM, although difficult at times, is much less than any other boarding school cost. It is through the generosity of others and the frugal money management of the HTM staff that they are able to keep costs far below that of other similar schools. The greatest benefit of the program is it gave us our daughter back and now we are a family again! Thank you to Harvest Time and all those who work so hard to bring the Lord as the guiding light in our daughters' lives.
